The Hungry Cat (Hollywood)

By in 08: Hollywood, Favorite Food Entries

Hungry Cats was under renovation at the end of 2007 by taking up the former painfully i-knew-it-wouldn’t-work short-lived Schwab space. Now not only there’s a new raw seafood bar, they updated their menu to be even more seafood based as well. The more premium line-up just look absolutely mouth-watering.

You can get LAMILL Coffee here!

Red Snapper Tartare, Apple, Jalapeno, Mint $15, so delicious!

Sea Urchin Half Shell $15 Very fresh, but a bit thin and not as creamy and ‘sweet’ as I expected.

IMG_0269.jpg“Northumberland” Oyster stew $12 This took awhile to come but the wait was worth it. Huge bowl with 3 silky oyster pieces, the stew has really irresistible fresh seafood flavor. It’s so good!

Everything is shared among Joan and I, what a gourmet work day lunch~ Compare to before (see old entry here and here), lunch-wise, it seems to have gone a bit more refine (maybe it just depends on what we order), I like it~

  1. Wow! A twelve dollar oyster stew, but if you say it’s good, we trust you. Will put this on our list. Thanks.

    Does the soup come with bread? The sea urchin served with the shell and spikes and all, doesn’t look so appetizing. ^^;;

  3. Joan says:

The oyster stew is quite large portion, we shared it and it filled us up. So $12 isn’t so bad. No the stew doesn’t comes with bread but it has lots of chop potatos.

My friend ate fresh caught Sea urchin right on the beath in Indonasia! they just open it at the spot and they eat off it…now that’s real fresh.

  4. Taste-Buzz says:

I’m confused — their menu was *always* seafood based.

  5. sneakermonkey says:

Stew looks awesome. Does it taste like chowder?
Can u keep the urchin shell?

  6. Freda says:

Sneakermonkey: no we didn’t get to keep to urchin shell.

Taste-Buzz: yes they are, perhaps the new raw bar somehow freshen my impression of it even more seafood? (but yeah I check the old menu again, it’s not much difference).

  7. Freda says:

WORC: The oyster stew isn’t a regular item on menu. We went back twice since then and the oyster stew wasn’t on it.
