Banyan (Manhattan Beach)

By in 17: South Bay

DSC01912.jpgDSC01915.jpgFrom friday lunch. We spotted this Indonesian restaurant while driving. The decor is very beautiful~ Brightly lit, gorgeous paintings, bamboo screen and furnitures, and a huge mural collage of a movie (?) scene of an Indonesian temple with lots of naked men…so weird ^^;;; I like the fork and table cloth!

DSC01917.jpgDSC01918.jpgWhite: Almond Milk Tea, Pink: Susu Soda (rose syrup), $2.75 each. The rose syrup drink smell and taste like perfume… ^^;; The crispy things are free appertizer, there’re sweet lotus seed paste inside.

DSC01919.jpgThe price is fair. Nasi Goreng $7 Nice, not great but nice.

DSC01921.jpgTwo curry set: Veggie and chicken The rice dome is interesting.

Conclusion: very nice decor, nice (but not great) food. Good lunch place during workdays! They were playing these new agey pan flute music, and with the bamboo blinds, sunshine and ocean wind, it felt like holiday…

Very very beautiful interior and cutlery~~~The two girls in the pic are huge…^^;;; Indonesian food is like that – nice but taste very predictable. Thai/Vietnamese food has more varieties I feel. Hey, should be Nasi Goreng, haha. I had some really nice Nasi Goreng in Singapore, but usually it comes with fried egg and peanuts and all sorts of side stuff – just fried rice is a bit plain.
