Ebizo’s Skewer (Manhattan Beach)

By in 17: South Bay

DSC01989.jpgJapanese shabu shabu and yakitori place with a western flair. There are many little stove and pot stations for Japanese fondue at the counter.

DSC01992.jpgSkewer set: Yakitori, bacon + banana $8 The banana is wrapped around by bacon. Good.

DSC01993.jpgShabu Shabu Burger, the sauce is wasabi + mayonnaise.

Banana wrapped in bacon?!?!!!!! ^^;;;;;;;; Is it the one at the bottom of the pic?? Is it really good???? ^^;;;;;; What is that yellow sauce doing there, what is that?? Shocking combination indeed! ^^;;;;; Shabu shabu burger is interesting too – but wouldn’t the shabu shabu beef(water-boiled, right?) a bit too wet to put inside bread??

    Yeah the skewer position is:
chicken – banana bacon – chicken -banana bacon -chicken
It just taste like…banana (not yummy burnt like plantain though) and bacon ^^;; not exactly declicoius match though. I can’t tell what the yellow sauce is.
I know…hence the bun is a bit soaked by the shabu shabu beef. The person I had lunch with had this irrational hatred for horseradish sauce and the wasabi+mayonnaise taste just like it (he didn’t know wasabi is also mustard ^^;;)…so it was a disaster for him.
