Bottega Louie (Downtown)

By in 06: Downtown LA

A new restaurant + gourmet deli/market/bakery called Bottega Louie opened down the street of where my friend lives. The setup reminds me of Dean & Deluca and Fauchon, but with far less items on the shelves and deli.

They sell their own brand of olive oil and balsamic vinegar on those shelves. They were giving away all those leftover bake goods (macaron, brownie) one night when my friend was eating there. The restaurant seating space is huge (no stress in finding seat for breakfast), with open kitchen in sight.

My friend and I tried their Breakfast.

Farmer’s Market Breakfast. $11  Poached eggs, haircots verts, potatoes, golden baby beets, shitake mushrooms, tomatoes & Reggiano parmasan.  Good varieties and delicious~

Eggs Benedict. $11  Good.  Potato Pancakes with Creme Fraiche & Applesauce.

The idea of this place seems attractive (I always wanted a D&D or Fauchon in LA!), albeit on the pricey side. The market shelves needed to grow because they seems like decoration right now, and it sell only high end priced stuff such as  $5 for a thin 2″ sq thin piece chocolate. At night it seems like it’d get ‘scenic’, and it’s a good dinner place before hitting Seven Grand across the street.

Ooh, this looks so good! I’ve been for dinner twice and have tried every flavor macaron. I just haven’t been for breakfast yet! Excited! 🙂

I wanna go back for lunch just to take some sunlit photos of eggs… $11 for eggs benedict isn’t too pricey when compared to say.. Campanile, JAR, AMMO, etc.
