Guisados (Echo Park)

By in 05: Silver Lake + Echo Park, Favorite Food Entries

IMG_3093GuisadosGuisados is hands down my favorite “new” restaurant in Los Angeles. This famous taquería originated in Boyle Height, and has since expanded to Echo Park. Watch for another outpost in Downtown LA soon. Guisados serves truly authentic tacos (not Tex-mex, not Cali-mex, it’s authentic flavors you would find in Mexico City) with fresh homemade tortilla.

Their Horchata is fresh and tasty!

If you’re not sure what to get, especially since the menu is in Spanish, then you can’t go wrong with the Six Mini Tacos Sampler. You get two beef: Steak Picado, Salsa Roja (steak with Red sauce), 2 chicken: Tinga, Mole Poblano and 2 pork: Chicharrón (friend pig skin). Cochinita Pibil (slow-roasted pork). All of them are excellent! All the meat are perfectly braised with so much flavors.  If I have to pick top 2, they would be Salsa Roja and Chicharon.

The handmade corn tortilla are so fresh tasting and fluffy. I never knew what a big difference good tortilla makes.

GuisadosHere’re the regular size tacos. Three are plenty enough, and so are the six mini sampler plate.

After you’ve been there once, you’ll feel like you want to go back again and again. The tacos are truly addictive and delicious. I’m hooked.
