M Café de Chaya (Melrose)

Food 08: Hollywood

A little break from NY and back to LA from Joan. So I didn't have a good impression on this place last time, but I promised to give it another try because so many people raved about it (it became a once-a-week-eat out place for a lot of co-workers). This time I stick with their salad and fish (which is the only real meat they serve). Tuna Tataki Salad. Oh my it taste so great! The fish and vegetable all taste incredibly fresh and I love the sauce. Stan got the Tuna Burger and he said it's probably the best burger he has ever had. As I learned my lesson from last time, I stick with the standard chocolate flavor and got the Chocolate pear mousse cake. I like it a lot too, the mousse texture almost taste like tofu pudding, the sweetness is subtle since they don't use sugar. A very smily Kristin Dunst and her gal pal were sitting next to us! :D

Maybe your hands are not steady enough?? I drink too much coffee and my hands are always shaking...hence very blurry pics I always end up with.

Tuna burger is real tuna!! RP I want to take you to this place too, I think you'll love it.

There must be some celebrity hang out restaurant/bar in Tokyo. May be they get their own private VIP rooms?

Yeah I'm glad to finally have my own camera. It's useful for my job too. But I think this camera is not as sharp as our old one, the picture doesn't come out as crisp. I'm still getting familiar with it.

Oh in NY there's a different celeb crowd too, my art director and others always tell me they saw so-and-so today, a different NY bunch from LA.

I heard that Jake Gyllenhaal always go to M Chaya too. There're only those couple oraganic/macrobiotic places in Hollywood, so you'd see those organic eating celebs there.

Kristin Dunst!! Wow!! Still very amazed that celebrities can walk into restaurants like that...that would never happen in Japan!

Really, the impression can vary so much depending on what you order!

Was the tuna burger made of real tuna too :-)? That chocolate mousse does look nice~~~!!!
