Hotcakes Bakes (Venice)

Food 15: Venice

When I droved by Centinela I spotted a new cute pink signs among the mom n' pops shops (and hardware industrial warehouses). What an odd unattractive place to have your bakery at (cheaper rent I guess? given they relocated from Westwood). It was newly re-opened for a couple days and it's quite empty inside. The Leeks and Spinach Quiche is patchy and tasteless, and the crust rather hard and old :( The sweets on the counter doesn't look too appealing to me (cupcakes, fudge cake, brownie), but these Macaron are very good! The bakery space is wide open and the 2 lady owners were preparing some big catering job, I think they're more for catering business than walk-ins. Though 2 more people came in because of the sign just like me. :D

Comments:

They almost sold me this old, burnt small brioche too, but then as I changed my mind to quiche they're like "oh we shouldn't sell that"...^^;;; But I'll still go back, it was their 4th day, I want to see how they're normally like.

The place is called Hotcakes Bakes, maybe their fudge cakes and brownies are served warm?? ^^;;
