Haejangchon Dolgooi (Koreatown)

Food 07: Mid-Wilshire

DSC09713.jpgWe ventured into this very neat and designy stone grilled place when walking around the neighborhood. The walls are full of Korean celebrities's framed autographs (so I figure this place is quite famous!?). But we were not really hungry, in fact we needed a light cleansing meal. ^^;; Thankfully the menu has soup~ Turns out our stomach still got so stuffed with soooo much food!

Very tasty and flavored Beef soup with lots of thin slice of beef and bean sprout, and a lot of dried for tasting. We also got the Kimchee Pancakes, VERY GOOD! (it has green bellpepper in it).

Very light Beef Brisket soup and the sauce and paste that you can seasoned your soup. I accidently dropped too much black pepper in the soup so I had peppery heat inside my body for days (too much "yang"). They also gave us two huge pot of Kimchee and radish.

As if the huge bowl of soup weren't enough, we had stone pot red (?) rice and the 'burnt rice soup'. Very good, very full! :D I'd love to come back here to try their stone grilled BBQ.

Oh specialised is good, too much varieties in the menu end up not so appealing...

Haha yeah we've been exploring our neighhborhood, hence lots of korean food. There're some rather famous 'fancy' restaurant just downstairs. If you were to come to LA and stayed with us now, even without car, you could have walk around and found lots of stuffs. ^^;; I found that there're many korean restaurants that specialize in chicken soup only, or duck (every item is duck only)...I'm reallly curious about them. There're also many restaurants that're like those HK "tea restaurant", with billion things to eat...from sushi to kimchee pizza to soba to bibimbap to curry to hamburg steak. ^^;;

More and more Korean food entries now you have moved! Was it just two of you?? So much food!! ^^;;
There seem to be more non-red non-spicy soup varieties there than in Japan! Here it is always "chige": spicy tofu soup~
