Joe's Restaurant (Abbot Kinney)

Food 15: Venice

Joe's Restaurant weekday $17 three courses Prix Fixe lunch is one of the best valued gourmet in town (see my past entry). I meet up with 2 friends, three people are perfect for choosing one of the each items. ^^;;

Yan's Starters: Herloom Tomato Salad with Green & Opal Basil, Mozzarella cheese with Extra Virgin Olive oil and her entree is what I had last time: Togarashi-seared Albacore with seaweed salad.

My pick: Corn Salad with Burrata Cheese & Balsamic Glaze, very fresh and sweet corn, contrast with the deep glaze sauce. Grilled Sturgeon with Wild Rice, Cucumber Relish and Lobster Reduction, so juicy and tasty~ Every bite is bursting with delight. Though the rice and sauce gets a bit strong tasting (need wine).

Christine: Tomato cream soup and Seared Chicken Breast with Parsnip Puree, Corn Succotash, Gingered Tomato Compote & Jimenez Vinaigrette. I tried a few bites, delicious~

The desserts are sorbet, Chocolate Flourless cake (2 orders) and Lemon & Blackberry Tart with sorbet & Honey Sauce. I had the later and it is incredible. It has very fresh custard inside the crispy crust, so yummy~

It was pretty full that day so the plates came a bit slower than usual. 0_o;;; But still very satisfied. Gorgeous dazzling lunch~

Comments:

The few restaurants right next to Joe's have Prix Fixe lunch too but they just can't compare. Joe's the best~
If a choco cake is flourless, it'd be like...brownies or fudge cake right? ^^;;; But this is not as dense and moist.

Everything looks fresh and healthy. I bet the calorie is low too. I wonder how they make the chocolate cake without using flour!
