Jade Cafe (silver lake)

Food 05: Silver Lake

Both Jon and I have been eating heavy and greasy these days so we thought of trying this vegan/raw food restaurant for some "cleansing". Jade cafe has a fushion "creative" menu. There're some interesting and rather unusual ingredients. They also have lots of exotic weird "healing" elixir. Forgot which one we got, it's very herby and healthy tasting. Reminds me a bit of Kombucha. Not sure how effective it is ^^;;

The Spa Salad: I think "walking into a jungle with open mouth" pretty much sum up this dish. Veggie overdose! Originally I wanted to get the Ginger Coconut noodles (sound good!) but it was sold out for the night, so I settled for Cheese and Spinach Pastries: cream cheese spinach and mushroom stuffed pastries over smooth carrot marinara and arugula pesto garnished with caramelized butternut squash spirals. This is yummy! Fresh and light tasting, multiple flavors.

The overly designy slick modern asian-inspired interior + organic vegan/raw food health elixir = Very west LA~~ I'm surprised this place is not located at the west side.

Comments:

if you'd got diarrhea... that's the 'cleansing'.

The spa salad looks a nightmare! Need a fry-pan!

The Cheese and Spinach Pastries look yummy, the salad, however, is an obvious no-no to me (scary amount of raw greens!!!)

The magic elixir I had was called "Healing Tonic." It made me dizzy, and not necessarily in a good way.
