El Conquistador (Silver lake)

Non-stop updates before our upcoming 5 days Maui trip. :D

Fresh and strong Margarita, with an empty stomach I was hit fast, already skipping vision by 1/3. Cow Tongue with Mole, the mole is pretty good! Soft tender meat. The sides are neat.

My friend's Halibut taste alright...very normal. The fries is an Ameri-Mexican reminder. ^^;; The oily soup came with each entree is rather tasteless despite its intense look.
I visited a friend who lives in Silver Lake on Labor Day. We walked down to see which local neighborhood restaurants were opened, turns out this Mexican bar/restaurant El Conquistador is the only operating one. The interior is like in an over-the-top mixed media painting by a crafty folk artist who's obsessed with beads, mirror pieces, glass tubes, stained glass and bold basic colors straight from the tube.

We're back from Maui! Got very brown and painful sunburn~ We went right after the Labor day long weekend so it's definitely off peak season, but the plane was still very full (of old people!). And maybe because of young people mostly back to school right now, there're hardly any eye candy (did see a very very handsome gay couple, that's it...^^;;;). It's all family, retired or rich old people...^^;;
