Hanoi (Little Saigon)

Favorite Food Entries + Food 18: Other

We stopped by Little Saigon for some good Vietnamese food. Since it was the weekend before Tet (Vietnamese New Year, same day as the Chinese New year), the neighborhood was extremely crowded. I found several recommendations from Chowhound, though due to the insane holiday traffic we settled into the first place on the list we spotted: Hanoi restaurant. Their menu was quite overwhelming. There're a lot of dishes not on the usual SGV's Vietnamese restaurants.

Cha Ca Thang Long (Hanoi Fried Fish with Dill). Really really delicious! It's a classic Northern Vietnamese dish. There's noodle and dipping sauce served on the side. It smells wonderful, love the dill, they compliment the fish really well.

Bun cha Ha noi (Hanoi Grilled Pork). Another classic Northern dish. Delicious! It's grilled pork meat served with dipping sauce, vermicelli and herb. I love the meat and sauce a lot!

Banh Tom Co Ngu (Vietnamese shrimp and yam fritters) Vietnamese's "fish n chips". Crispy. It's a big plate they gave us so we couldn't finish most of it.

Osakamalaka, I just added the address of this place, hope that help you out.

Yeah I'm glad I branched out of pho, though I heard their chicken pho is really good too.

This stuff looks awesome. I have to admit that like Seat, I just get the Pho... but now I have to try that Cha Ca Thang Long. Its making my mouth water!

Wow, never tried any of these before. So Vietnamese food is not just pho and spring rolls!
