It was a shockingly mercilessly tragic experience last time when I came all the way to this soba place with a few friends, so ready for some nice soba, and found out that the shop was closed, even though I had phoned to confirm beforehand that it would be open. Came back again alone and thank god it was open! I ordered the “extremely thick flat soba” which my friend recommended and I had been so curious and dying to try for a long time. Went for the largest portion of course, hoho. I knew it was going to be thick but I was still quite shocked cos it was really really REALLY thick!!! It is nice, and I do love thick hard noodles….but perhaps not to the point that every bite is simply a lump of starch(^^;;). I want to try the medium thick soba next time though, medium should be just right for me.

Nice simple taste, though I got tired halfway…should have ordered one with fruits and ice-cream etc. Seems like a very popular place, many came in just to take-away. Most of the people ordered what I ordered so I guess that is the most popular item.

フォアグラと仔うさぎのテリーヌ、イチジクと杏、ビネガーであえた野生アスパラ。
Cold white asparagus soup, with zucchini puree and pine nuts.
Terrine of foie gras and hare, semi-dried fig and apricot on the bottom, asparagi selvatici(wild asparagus) with vinegar on top.

真鯛のポワレ、下にナスのピュレ、パルサミコとピスタチオのオイル、プチトマト。
仔羊のロースト、鶏の出汁にバターとアンチョビで仕上げたソース。
Pan-fried bream, with aubergine puree at the bottom, balsamico vinegar and pistachio oil, petit tomato.
Roasted lamb, sauce made from chicken stock, butter and anchovy.

ローストアーモンドのムース、グレープフルーツとアボカドのソルベ。
チャイのムース、ジンジャー風味のミルク。
Dessert: roasted almond mousse, grapefruit and avocado sorbet.
Petit fours: Chai mousse and Ginger milk, also fresh chocolate(not in pictures).
Everything is included in the lunch course, 3990yen. Other than the dessert which is a bit boring, every dish is delicious, especially the fish dish with its appetite-arousing sauce.

060616 029.jpgどらやき(白あん、黒あん)、きんつば。The dorayaki are so good! Love the skin. I warmed it a little bit with microwave and the wonderfully sweet egg flavour was enhanced. Kintsuba is baked sweet bean paste with a coating of flour and water. I have never seen it before so I was all tourist-mode and taking pictures of the ojisan making it, but apparently it is just a common traditional sweet.

前菜盛り合わせ:牛肉煮こごり、鴨の燻製、くらげ、メンマ、フルーツトマト。
Appetizer plate, dunno how to translate…beef pate-ish thing was nice, smoked duck had pork paste on top. Very good.

Prawn, broccoli and cauliflower, X.O. sauce. Beef cheek meat chinese wine stew.

杏仁風味のブリュレ。杏仁豆腐。
Almond brulee, lychee sorbet, with tapioca. Almond tofu.
Additional comments: Five of us to share. The food is not very typical chinese, especially the shredded chicken that comes with so much salad. Taste is very light, little salt, little oil, but the sauce is thick and heavy. About 6000yen per person.. proper chinese food in Japan is not cheap really.
