Luscious Dumpling (San Gabriel)

By in 01: San Gabriel

Both Freda and I are busy at work these days, sorry for the slow update.
DSCN2984I heard about the delicious Xiao lun bao-like soup dumplings at this small family owned restaurant that specialized in dumplings. The dumplings are handmade and sold out fast. So we made an effort to wake up early on the weekend (rare case for us ^^;;) and arrived at around noon, and still the soup dumplings were sold out already. There are still many items to order from the small menu that’s half devoted to different kinds of dumplings and the other half to noodles. Small size beef noodle and the very good free chopped celery, tofu-gan (five-spice dry tofu) and peanuts side dish.

We tried two dumplings: Pork and Celery and pork and shrimp. Juicy and delicious! The skin is the thick Northern kind. They also have fried dumplings which every table seems to have an order of. I’ll definitely try it next time and hopefully the soup dumplings won’t be sold out.

Luscious dumplings are indeed delicious — but yea, I’ve never went early enough to have the full menu to choose from 🙁

The photos look like they are from magazines!

How early do you have to get there to eat the soup dumpling? 11am?
