I wanted to check out this place due to its cute website. Locates at the hip Pali Hotel at the Fairfax district, The Hart and the Hunter offers Southern meets Californian cuisine in a hip space that feels more like a coffee shop. I love the decor a lot.
Smoked Trout, boiled egg, Lettuce, Tomato, Avocado sandwich
The smoked trout was very good. They went well with the condiments. At first I was worried about the portion but turns out it’s pretty filling, though I wish they give you more bread.
Shrimp and grits, Bacon, Mushroom, Scallion
I’m not usually a grit fan but this is delicious! Umami tasting and not heavy. The scallions are a nice touch.
From a 2nd visit:
Butter Biscuit with Pimento Cheese, Honey butter, Black berries
The butter Biscuit is their star must-get item. They’re fresh, buttery and didn’t feel heavy at all. Of the three toppings I like the honey butter the best.
The Pecan Praline Pancakes were fluffy and light. The crunchy pecans were very good. We also got the Mason (the one in mason jar) and Cortado coffee. Both are great~
Cute place good food, I’d love to go back to try their dinner menu. It’s also a bonus that it’s walking distance to Cinefamily, i.e. one of my most favorite places in Los Angeles!
