豚バラとキャベツの甘辛味噌炒め煮丼。青菜と干し海老の炒め飯。
じゃが芋のグラタン。あら汁。
牛乳寒天寄せオレンジコンポート。本日のランチ、1000円。うまかった~。Two rice bowls plus potato gratin and fish miso soup, very yummy and filling!! I went late and the small restaurant was empty except an obasan, who probably lives nearby and just ordered a take-away, and even when it was ready she would just sit there with a cup of tea and chat and chat on and on with the 2 chefs and the waitress throughout the entire time I was there, and when I left I heard her saying “seems like the age group of the customers coming here has changed ne~~it used to be just obasan ojisan ne~~”….^^;;;

I love this kind of 定食 style food too!
Looks really good!
Double bowl, love that Japanese ‘lots of variant pieces’ style
So is Japanese gourmet sorta ‘unfashionable’ for young people (who rather wanted French ^^;;)?
Yeah, 定食 is definitely more balanced. Though in this case there is too much rice/potato…^^;;;
Now 和食(washoku) is trendy I think? Not like gloomy and old-style ojisan-oriented washoku places but more fashionable stylish cafe-ish washoku where young girls go.
yeah, I love 定食 but authentic 定食places are for ojisans-only!!
but sometimes I’d go anyway.
and get stared at by ojisans.
it’s pretty uncomfortable.
in japan there seems to be strict separation of sexes during lunchtime on workdays.
I know…it is easier to go for Italian, French etc cos there are usually more OLs, but I do crave for rice sometimes so must endure the ojisan surrounding~~
