Restaurant is on the second floor of the gorgeous "château".

We couldn't decide for a long time but finally opted for the more luxurious 12,000yen lunch course. The cheaper one is 7000yen.
Amuse-bouche is a spoonful of carrot jelly, blood orange sorbet and coriander foam.

Uni and crustacean(prawn or crab?) jelly with cauliflower cream. A big chunk of fresh uni at the bottom which is super sweet. A memorable dish!

Mushroom and scallop, with hot bouillon soup of mushroom and ginger poured (by the server).

Gratiner of red seabream and karasumi, with sabayon(foamy sauce made from egg). The crispy layer of "gratin" tastes of cheese, very nice!
Bread are all great, with many different kinds to choose from. I like the basil(green one) and the little croissant with anchovy the most.

Roasted baby lamb Pastoral style, with herb salad. Perfectly cooked, very tender and juicy. The black bits are truffle.
Avant dessert: Coffee jelly with amaretto and cocoa.

Marron souffle in pear soup, with apricot sorbet. This is so good! I tried a bit of my friend's chocolate mousse but I like the souffle more.

The whole course is perfect. Just 100% PERFECT!! Every dish delicious without exceptions. I am seldom impressed by the fish course in French restaurants but I love the way they cook the fish. The lamb is easily one of the best(if not the best) I have ever eaten. Gosh I can see myself comparing lamb chops in other restaurants to this one from now onwards...

Service is very professional but not snobby. The interior is gorgeous of course. Unfortunately we were a big group and had to sit at the table right in the middle, which made us feel a little "exposed". The sofa seats next to the windows look much more comfortable~. Ladies get free French bread with nuts and dried fruits as souvenirs.

haha Seat the show is delicious, not the food but the guys and their rivalry *wink wink*. I love Ilan, he always comes off unintentionally creepy ;D.

Ah that gambling room/men's club dessert place haha! I remember~

RP, you are hooked to cooking contest? ^^;;;;;
btw, they have a cafe specialised in desserts, entry here. Also the first floor of the chateau serves desserts at tea time, entry here.

Ohhhh Joël Robuchon, Marcel's boss supposedly? I am totally in love with Marcel right now, thanks Joan & Freda for getting me hooked on the show X-D The restaurant is pretty! Looks like they have a corner just selling the desserts?

Joël Robuchon is famous~. There is a branch in Las Vegas? The problem is there are so many restaurants under his name and not all are great. THe one in HK is apparently no good. Actually I went for a cheaper lunch at a branch in Roppongi and it was no good too. I mean for famous chef, the dishes maybe created by him but he is not the one making it for you in the restaurants~

Oh yeah...XD!! The chef competiton reality show we chased called Top Chef (just ended last week), followed this steamy rivalry between two young good looking chefs, Ilan vs. Marcel. One of them works for Joël Robuchon in his Las Vegas restaurant, and his name was involved in some of the taunts exchanged. (the most bottom quote XD)

I'm starting learn the names of famous chef now that I watch more food related programs on TV ^^;;

Joan | February 7, 2007 09:29 AM

oh wow Joël Robuchon! He's a very famous chef~~ The closest restaurant we have from him is at Las Vegas, I think...

You took me to check out this place when I was in Japan right? I remember the chataeu! it looks so grand and intimdating. the food looks absolutely amazing, wow~~

Joan | February 7, 2007 09:25 AM

I am quite sure the château has no historical value. ^^;;;;
The dots around are pesto sauce(I think).
Yeah dinner would surly be more than double of the price~~. Plus you will drink more at dinner so even more expensive. But it is not just the environment or the fancy presentation or the experience, the food itself is actually good! I think 7000yen lunch will probably be of better value cos the menu sounds just as tempting.

And I can't imagine what would the dinner courses be like~~

Freda | February 6, 2007 12:25 PM

Oh my soooo luxurious looking ^^;; Is the chateau...old? $120 Lunch course~~ *O*
The golden egg container is so pretty~ the dot pattern and center leaf are so perfectly layout that I almost thought that was a printed paper cover/divider on top ^^;; The truffle roasted lamb...*Q* sounds like the most delicious dish ever~ This looks like more than food, it's an experience (and the fairytale chateau is a big bonus ^^:;;)
