Singaporean "carrot cake". It is actually radish cake stir-fried with egg and chilli sauce.
Sangria with mango juice - rather expensive cocktail(850yen) which tastes just okay. Also ordered a grapefruit alcohol drink(650yen) which, to my disappointment, came in a bottle! Better stick with beer next time...

Kinshinsai(Lily flower) wtih garlic and nam pla(fish sauce).
Singaporean-style fish curry and Jasmine rice.

Thai-style omelette. Roasted chicken.

Lamb and tomato spicy stew.
Roti Prata(Indian bread with butter).

Singaporean fried noodles. Hainan chicken rice(L).

Chinese puerh tea jelly with tapioca. Mango pudding.

All the food are very nice! I especially loved the radish cake, Roti Prata and fried noodles. I've been to lunch at the original restaurant near Roppongi(entry here) and Hainan chicken rice was terrible. But in this Ebisu branch, the same chicken rice was very good! I am not sure if it is the difference between lunch and dinner, or Ebisu and Roppongi. Overall the taste is a bit strong/salty - which is of course the universal strategy to make you order more drinks. Environment and service are good. Price is reasonable(except those fancy cocktails). 3 of us shared all the food plus drinks, less than 4000yen per person.

Dinner menu: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Comments:

Both carrot cake and turnip cake are made from "daikon".

I looooovvee dim sum's turnip cake. Is that what singapore "carrot cake" is!?!?

Ah yes, I love those chinese turnip cake in dim sum places. Never knew frying it with egg and sauce can turn it into something so delicious!

You also get carrot cake in Chinese dim sum, but it is usually pan fried (not stir fried like the Singaporean carrot cake) and called turnip cake.

Happy CNY! I completely forgot about it...^^;;
They only have bak kut teh(肉骨茶?)in the Azabu branch. Yeah I want to go back and try prawn mee or hokkien mee!

I reckon "carrot cake" comes from translation of the word 蘿蔔糕...you know in chinese, radish=蘿蔔 while carrot=紅蘿蔔...very confusing. They have something called "Hong Kong fried rice" in Singapore hahaha. ^^;;;

The "white dude" is American? I bet European are just as passionate/opinionated about food.

if you intend to try the prawn mee or hokkien mee there in the future, would like to hear your verdict on them! :) is there bak kut teh in the menu?

Happy Chinese New Year! :)

Now I'm so curious about the Singapore Carrot cake, I never had that before! Haha I always have to remember Hanan chicken rice doesn't come from Hanan, it is from Singapore. (and the HK cafe's Singapore fried noodle doesn't come from Singapore).

According to the recent episode of Anthony Bourdain, Singapore people get very passionate (or opinionated ^^;) about how to eat, but could be because they saw a camera filming a white dude eating, some people thought they ought to 'educate' him the best way to appreciate the food.
(It's a funny episode too, he got boo by an audience in a conference prior because he didn't know where's the best Hanan Chicken in town is).

I love Singaporean carrot cake(have tried it in Singapore before)so I was happy to find it in Tokyo! It was so good that before we finished it, we were talking about ordering another plate! btw, your blog looks great!

The Singaporean carrot cake looks really good.

Btw, the Thai-style omelette looks more like what they called "son-in-laws egg" (deep fried boiled egg with tangy sauce").

All the foods in your blog look really good.

I'm really happy that you can get Singapore carrot cake in Tokyo! It's not very common outside that country. It looks very good!
