0712150075Steamed chinese cabbage and anago(eel). Mozuku(seaweed) zosui(rice soup) with quail egg. Fruit jelly.

Have been wanting to try this restaurant for the longest time and in fact I booked this place twice before, but both times I ended up having to cancel the bookings due to a change in schedule. Finally I managed to eat there and the quality didn't disappoint at all! Every dish is so delicious and delicate-tasting. Some dishes are quite Kyoto style with Ankake(starchy sauce) and using ingredients from Kyoto. 5250yen for this 10-course meal is really amazing in value. The restaurant is small and is at the basement. The interior is kinda modern Japanese dining feel. Very convenient location as it is like just across the road from Ebisu station. Definitely want to go back again when the menu is renewed.

Menu(J): 1, 2.

Comments:

Hmm, not exactly an izakaya cos the focus is more on the food than the alcohol - those sake and washoku are inseparable. You can order individual dish instead of the full course, but I think the latter is much better value.

So this is consider izakaya? The courses look so good, the grilled fish especially (whole one~) Very veggie and fish based~~~

Restaurants I usually go are either non-smoking or I can ask to be seated in non-smoking areas - I seldom go to Izakaya. If I am bothered by the smoke, I will definitely mention it in my review. Thanks!

And Kadota is all non-smoking. Bravo. It would be great if you could indicate restaurant smoking policy on your reviews.

Anybody looking for other non-smoking establishments (restaurants, bars, onsen, barbers etc) I recommend this website link
