I actually was looking for this place yesterday but after half an hour circling the same block in the heat, I couldn't find the entrance!!! So I gave up and went to a different place for lunch. Today, I checked the internet and memorised the look of the entrance....finally found it next to someone's house....I think I almost got there yesterday but when I saw it was residential, I backed down again. Very stunning garden view though!

The bento box has two layers again. Upper layer is the left pic, bottom layer is the rice. All are very nice!!

My mom cooked that before, and I dunno how to say the name in English~ I love them, especially when soaked with sauce~ Like a sponge!

I've never seen that net looking veggie...
where did you have it, Freda??
I asked my mom and she doesn't know what it is either but said it might be 'fuki'(type of veggi).
now I'm really curious how it tastes! :D

Yeah dark wood and white paper always looks so classy~~~
Chain as in same company but every shop has its style so its okay lor. I am very sensitive against "chain" too...

All chain seems to look different and got different menu, so sorta not too much like chain? I love the contrast with dark furnitures and light floor/screen, all in minimal and simple designed, so nice~

That "net" veggy, probably first time for me!! tomoko, do you know what it is called??
I suppose you can walk in the garden but I was alone and no one was walking outside....it is not that big anyway, the garden/restaurant are surrounded by other people's houses - very enclosed.
I think it is a "chain" restaurant from gion, see here. Yeah, what a lovely place to live in! Makes you not ever want to go outside...^^;;;

How odd the restaurant is hidden in the residential houses. The garden looks so beautiful~~ That 'net' looking veggie in the sashimi pic, what is that called in English? (I love those!)
Gosh the steamed egg with cheese...sound so good!
Such a neat idea, the multi-layer treasure box with rice hidden~~~
