譚魚頭火鍋(旺角分店)
Braised Leopard Coral Grouper, Sichuan Style. Steamed crab.
香港人にはあまり知られてない「香港料理大賞」というものがあって、この店の「水煮東星斑：東星ハタの四川風辛味煮」は賞をもらった一品。実は火鍋の店で、ほとんどの客はしゃぶしゃぶを注文するけど、あえて「水煮東星斑」を予め電話で予約した。しかし、店のミスでオーダーを忘れられた、、、友人は激怒。寒い時火鍋店は激込みなので、仕方ないか、、、。代わりに、同じ「水煮」だけど、魚は別のものを。
蒸し蟹。２つを頼んだけど、また注文のミスで一つしか出なかった、、、友人も諦め気味。
Today's fish soup. Fried pea-sprout in crab sauce.
Taste-wise it is alright, but the service is a bit lacking.

The food was alright, especially the soup was good. Just that service was terrible so we didn't enjoy the meal at all.
Yeah, I saw some Iron chef episodes when I was in HK, seems like quite a few of them have restaurants in NY, you should try one!!

wahhhat, award can be so deceiving~ ^^;; I wonder about those Iron Chef, those winning chefs...if their restaurant are really as good.

There is this chinese food competition in HK, Japanese page here and Chinese here. I can't say all the restaurants are bad...but they certainly fluctuate in quality and quite a few of them are expensive and high class and are inside hotels. Very tailored for tourists, you know. This restaurant won some awards but gosh, our orders all got corked up and the service is bad - not going back there ever.
