Flying Monkey (Philadelphia)

Also on the pretty Locust street is the cupcake teahouse Flying Monkey. They have a shop at the Reading Terminal Market as well.

The space is too lovely~ The walls are decorated with paintings of monkey interpreted by different artists. I love the mismatch pillows.

You can select tea from the jars. They played good indie rock as well. They only use vanilla and chocolate cake base, while they have rather traditional topping flavors. Though I came upon an unusual one one time:

Champagne. The cake is moist and light, and the cream is not too sweet (that I like). Though I can only taste a bit of champagne…

I came back here with Joan when we were exhausted by the heat. Buttercream Chocolate and Strawberry. The chocolate cake bottom of the strawberry was a bit dry, while the vanilla cake was perfectly moist.

It’s a great neighborhood gem, and a lovely stop for those of us who were worn out by the heat and walking. I also met a fellow food blogger who was taking photos of his cupcakes.
