Axe (Abbot Kinney)

By in 15: Venice

I passed by this minimalistic place hidden behind shrubbery on Abbot Kinney many times without ever noticing it. It’s a Californian cuisine, the place is crowded with yuppie westside crowd.

Basic Rice Bowl with Eggs $11. These ‘rice bowl’ are basically the same as Vietnamese Bun Bowl except it’s brown rice instead of rice noodle. The sauce is the same lime fish sauce (but far more $$ than a usual bowl of bun ^^;;). It’s loaded with many types of veggie, all very fresh~

The walls are blank minimal white, but the shadow of the plants outside cast lots of interesting shapes on the wall, very nice~

Looks yummy, healthy and well balanced, huge portion too! Are there deluxe rice bowls in the menu too?

I don’t see any deluxe rice bowl. They have many many amazing sounding salad too. That’s Californian cuisine for you, so healthy, so fresh…organic..etc. ^_-

I’d definitely try the fish and appetizers next time, though your choice was very unique! They have some nice wines and beers as well.
