Happy New Year!

DSC01843.jpgDSC01845.jpgHAPPY NEW YEAR~ It’ll take awhile to get used to using ‘2005’ (actually I was constantly confused whether last year was 03 or 04…as if unconsciously I’ve always wanted the time to freeze)!
Two cakes from a local Taiwanese bakery chain Cathy Bakery. The Raspberry one is a birthday cake for my mother (Jan 1 is her birthday!), the yellow one is for a party. This local chain wasn’t known for quality in both decoration and taste since it debut about 10 years ago; they’re like the usual chinese bakeries that has no personality, nor design and refinement. But in recent years there are more and more new Chinese cake shops (RJ, JJ, etc.) opening that are more and more like cute Japanese cake shops. Probably feeling the pressures from these competitors Cathy Bakery finally gave themselves a complete make over (even their boxes are re-designed). Now their cakes look pretty good but still the taste are blah~~ The raspberry one is so fake tasting, and seems to have some numbing effect on my tongue…geez…

the inside is very normal, just regular fruit yellow sponge cake! so-so tasting. Still much much better than regular American cakes (ones you get at regular market and bakery) though!
