Taix (Echo Park)

By in 05: Silver Lake + Echo Park

Ok not really budget eating but we felt like celebrating last week.

Veggie soup, Belgian endive salad with Roquefort cheese and garlic croutons. Fresh and delicious!

Clam Chowder, Trout Almondine, Good! Crispy, buttery but not heavy.
DSC06747.jpgOur eyes nearly popped out as we saw the soup that came along with the entree. O,O Giant pot of soup that can serves at least 4 plates. We only managed to ate half. Taix is a 78 years old French country restaurant, very big and 70s fancy interior inside but it is more of a family restaurant vibe. Very unpretentious and friendly service. It also has a lounge area. Afterward I read recommendation that their escargot and lamb chop are very good, gotta try it next time.

    Looks very artificial colouring…^^;;
    The fish is so yummy~~~~!!!
    I like the American style big piece of fish with roasted almonds on top and cream sauce!
    When you order fish dish in Japan, it is like this tiny little piece that you feel so cheated. ^^;;;

    Haha that artificial colour thing is sorbet that we didn’t know were included in the entree too. Indeed haven’t seen such unhealthy looking colors for a long time, it is one of the many things (including the interior and exterior) that makes this place feels sooo 60s-70s!

    Seat, geez I wonder why, you’d think Japanese diet consume so much fish (raw at least) that they’d prepare for large supplies…
