Bright Food Shop (NYC: Chelsea)

By in 03: NYC

Another almost lost entry from NY. One rare day we have a bit of free time at work so we venture out to the REAL Chelsea where there’re lots of nice restaurants and boutiques (all male fashion ^^;;).

Bright Food Shop is a Mexican-Asian fusion since 1930s (didn’t know fusion was popular then already ^^;;). The menu is very interesting, with lots of different soft drink from South America.

The non alchoholic Sangria basically taste like grape soda. ^^; The salad is shockingly YUMMY! *O* Bright Greens w/ jicama, hijiki, soy toasted almonds sherry cumin vinaigrette, my goodness. So crunchy, so fresh and full of flavor. I don’t want it to end.

Other people’s dishes: Mizuna, Tatsoi & Mixed Cabbage Salad w/smoked tofu, scallions, long beans + crispy wontons aji amarillo mustard vinaigrette and Burrito. This place is very delicious, I wished we have more chance to explore lunch hour destination in Chelsea.

wow, mizuna salad? I don’t see much mizuna used in salad in japan, so I’m impressed…they must be really, really hip!

These look very healthy and nice (the two usually don’t go together :-P)!

I know…I had no expectation and the salad didn’t look that appealing…but YUM! So good! 😀 I think it might have been the hijiki that gave it a special flavor. Chelsea is THE gay neighborhood, so yeah it’s hip~
