T.O.T (Little Tokyo)

By in 06: Downtown LA

DSC00955.jpgDSC00958.jpgT.O.T is a sister restaurant to Joymart at LT, they’re only few steps from each other in the same plaza. Both are Yoshoku style. Difference is T.O.T is a bit more traditional Japanese food and more friendly atmosphere, while Joymart has other Asian food and more creative dishes and sake bar. They taste just as good.

(Ahi) Tuna & (Spicy) Tuna Bowl $8 and Avacado Tuna Bowl with Wasabi Soysauce Rice $8 There’s so much veggie in them that it’s practically a salad too, so good!

The restaurant kept LOOPING this Utada song, not the whole song, but some clips that only played from half way till the end, then loop back to that half way…over and over again!!! MY GOD so annoying~~! It’s like they got some promotional disc with only test listen clip and got paid to bomb it. When we were almost finished, it finally stopped and they change CD to Mr.Children’s best album *relief*…^^;;

    The logo design project is not new at all, IF started it like 6 years ago ^^:;; but then the film production were postponed. I’m surprised they can still find their old presentations. Those design really looked like…6 years ago…

    The film will be produced by Steven Spielberg, directed by Chicago’s director, starring Zhang Ziyi, Gong Li, Michelle Yeoh, Ken Watanabe…why all these Chinese cast!? ^^;;; Guess they are more international famous.

    Avacado/Mayonnaise/raw salad on rice…not exactly that traditional Japanese(unless you picked the least traditional items? ^^;;;). More like trendy cafe food for young girls.

    Oh my, ‘Memoirs of a Geisha’…there used to be a Mauritius guy in my class(years ago) practically life-threatened me to read it because it is “the best novel in the world”, claimed he. I never read it. ^^;;;;; Great they are making a movie, no need to read it after all, haha.

    they are finally making that film!! i’ve waiting for so long. i read the book about 3~4 years ago. it’a a great story. esay reading but full of emotions (kinda like the girl with the pearl earing) i still have the book if you want to borrow it. as for the cast, i really really don’t like zhang ziyi. but i love gong li and michelle yeoh. funny how they pick mostly chinese actress for a japanese film. my boyfriend’s stepsister knows zhang ziyi from the same acting school they attened and she told me she is really fake and adv. around who she slept with to get her position. as for gong li, well. . . since she came from the same city as my grandparents, i love her more for that.

    Read or die!? haha!

    Tina have you watch Girl with Pearl Earring movie? Is it good?
    Wanting to see that~

    Zhang Ziyi sounded like the typical ambitious diva actress case, but I do think she is pretty and got great screen presence and the freshess, fierceness and passion that few young actress got. I really enjoyed her on screen. She got the kind of most ideal petit delicate Asian beauty face and built that has board (but not cheap!) appeal to koreans, Japanese and now Western as well.

    yeah, i’ve seem the movie, and it sucked so bad@_@!!!!! since i really love the book, i was waiting for that movie for the longest time too. don’t get me wrong, i do think scarlet is pretty but i don’t think she acted well in the film. the only good thing about that movie is that every single shot was done breath takingly (is that even a word??) beautiful. just like a 17th centruy dutch painting. since i use to paint, and the 17 century dutch was one of my favorit, i wish i could just turn off the sound and igonor the actors. and pause frame by frame just to see how they compose each shot!! the girl in the book suppose to be a strong will, smart, mature, girl/woman. and the relationship between her and the painter vemeer was so delicate that even though there is no physical contact , you can feel the tension and desire whenever they stand next to each other. scarlet played the girl as if she is young and stupid and often get herself into trouble. urhhhh!!!!

    as for zhan ziyi, i am very bias. ^^ ;; i f i can’t like the person off the screen, i can’t like them on the screen either. but i do agree with you that “she is pretty and got great screen presence and the freshess, fierceness and passion that few young actress got. I really enjoyed her on screen.” i especially like it when she play the bitch. . . really fun to watch that, cuz i feel like “the power is coming from within”!!! like in hero, during the red series, it’s fun to watch her expressing being so hateful, she act that out really well. but i heard on the premier of “hero” in asia, she was totally ignor by the rest of the cast. i guess she is not that popular in the cirlce . . . my boyfriend’s stepsister also told me that she slept with jackie chan (not supprise though, i mean who hasn’t he slept with ?)

    I have nothing against the “actresses sleep their way up the ladder” thing. That’s how entertainment industry works isn’t it? No matter how pretty or talented you are, unless you’re super lucky or born with good connections (like Gwenlth Paltrow), they don’t get you anywhere. Sad but true.

    Jackie Chan…now that’s someone I really can’t stand. ^^;;

  7. tina says:

    it’s sad and true that they have to do that. . . i am pretty sure almost all the actress and actor have to take that route sometime in their life, and it’s even more true in asia. but i don’t think it’s such a good idea to adv. around how many and who you sleep with. might create a lot of front page in the state, but in asia. . . ^^|||

  8. Freda says:

    ah too bad I’ll still watch A Girl with Pearl Earring for the aesthetics …^^;;
