Urth Caffé (Santa Monica)

By in 16: Santa Monica

I once tried to go to the Melrose branch but the crowd is just insane. I would stay with the west side branch (old entry here). The manager didn’t seem to be there so no one scold me for taking photos of the food. 😀

Bread Pudding with Cinnamon is really good! Even blended, their coffee is still strong flavor! (Green Tea Latte in front)

Soup + Salad set: Curry Chicken with Raisin, and Manhattan Clam Chowder. The latter is more tasty than it looks! It is like this one *q*, fine chopped ingredients with watery but creamy broth. The bread is very good.

Tuna Sandwich with Vegetarian Chili.

I saw a poster on the wall saying this place is run by energy generated from the solar panels on the roof!

    The menu is basically sandwich and soup?
    I am surprised you will go back to the shop where you got told off from taking pics!
    But being environmental friendly is great…

    Haha green energy? That’s good! The bread pudding looks really, really yummy. How I wish I work in either of you gals’ area ^^;;;

    RP, aren’t there many many delicious Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants around where you work? I crave that everyday.
    Yeah seat it’s another of those very LA healthy organic cafe with salad, panini, sandwich with some ethnic color Asian, Hummus, Mexican …etc. ^^;; I saw the fruit plates other people ordered, quite good actually…it has fig and many exotic fruits (by American standard that is). Being tell not to take photo won’t scare me ^^;; But then we came here because we were shopping around that area and this is the only good lunch spot. ^^;;; I would generally avoid eating ‘sandwich’ on weekend.

    Oh the non-vegetarians are reasonably happy in ChinaTown, but I am pretty much stuck with v. v oily and/or bland dishes ^^;;; Luckily Little Tokyo isn’t far away. There are some restaurants in downtown we’d like to go too but parking= $$$ My two lunch buddies who used to work & thus park in downtown are missing their better (and LONGER) lunch hour days sorely as well. *cough* Anyway.
