Apple Pan (West LA)

By in 11: West LA

I heard about this popular burger joint at West LA where there’s usually a 20+ minutes queue. I got there at around 2 and got a seat right away (lucky a customer just finished). It’s all counter seats circling the open kitchen.

Steak Burger. The pickled tomato sauce is too strong tasting and heavy pickle flavor, spoiling my appreciation of the fresh and fine quality patty. I should have just get the plain burger. The buns are so light that they melt in your mouth. The fries are…not greasy but I found them just alright (a bit stale).

What I didn’t prepared was the scary owner. ^^;;;;; He was grumpy and slammed down the food he brought to you very hard. I was a bit scare to take photos (took them hastely while he turn away ^^;;). I heard that their pies are said to be better than the burgers, but I was too full to try. ^^;;

    Oh no other staff, just him? Maybe too busy so got grumpy…^^;; At least the counter seats are not so near to the kitchen.

    The cup is like those paper cups used in offices, but put on a stand??

    wow the owner’s scary! ^^;
    maybe other customers didn’t tip him
    or something. bummer!

    haha i think that’s just the character of the owner. When some regulars came in they’re chit chating with him in a very friendly manner, so I guess the grumpy face, throwing/slamming food is just the way he is ^^;; He doesn’t do the cook, there’re 3 cooks working in the kitchen, and I once read other people’s account that if you tried to ‘customize’ your burger with ingredients they don’t really have, they’d give you a dirty look and yelling at you ^^;;;

    I can’t fathom the he paper cup on a stand…(unless they never washed those stands ^^;;;)
