We walked all over Mongkok and Tsim Sa Tsui all day long. Before heading back to the Hong Kong Island via Star Ferry we surrendered to our tired feet and rested at the chichi Lobby Lounge at the Intercontiental Hotel for afternoon tea.
The Lobby Lounge’s interior was rather soulless and business looking, and it’s completely filled with business men/women in business attire which made us felt quite out of place. It’s known for its panoramic window view of the Victoria bay, unfortunately it was not a clear day but it’s still quite an experience.
We got the Intercontinental Afternoon Tea set (HK $398 for two, that’s about USD $50, very pricey).
The set was so gigantic that it barely fits our small table. It came with two pots of tea, and…
Top layer is butter, devonshire clotted cream and earl grey jelly.
The middle layer had 6 cakes and the bottom layer had 8 sandwiches.
Close up of the sandwiches. Pretty good.
Other than the “rack” of snacks, there’s also a box of assorted pastries and scones. I’m not a big fan of scones and others were kind of so-so.
Also a plate of macarons!
There was simply way too much food for 2 person, I think the set can easily feed 4 people. We couldn’t finish it and felt like wasting, especially for the price. Overall the food was pretty good, not particularly exceptional. It’s a popular joint for business types to come here for cocktails at night since the view is so dramatic and nice, I took a look at the drink list and they’re so expensive. That’s the thing with Hong Kong, you can eat/drink for very cheap but also very very expensive. Saw on the menu that they serve these high end tea with “gold flakes” in them, of course they’re incredibly expensive.
Don’t miss the ferry ride back to Hong Kong Island.

This looks amaaaaazing! I bet the Monkeys could finish it. We are no ordinary duo. 😉
Omg, this looks amazing!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing, bookmarked for whenever I visit HK! drooling.. I am a huge dessert person, so finishing should not be a problem 😛
that’s the largest afternoon tea set I’ve ever seen! ^0^
did you guys get to take the leftovers w/ you? haha
We didn’t take any leftovers, because there weren’t much left. ^^;;; (well there were only scones left)
I’m surprised you actually tried those English afternoon tea set…they are NEVER nice. ^^;;; I love scones but it’s hard to find a real good one. Bad scones make you choke – I’m not joking! The only good ones I’ve ever tried were not from UK or HK….but Japan! XD
bad (most dry scones) do choke you!!! XD
