Pork Store Cafe (San Fransico: Haight)

By in 04: SF+Bay Area

DSC04901.jpgDSC04903.jpgDSC04902.jpgWe saw long line queuing outside Pork Store Cafe on Haight Street. It was a historic butcher shop from early 1900s turned cafe in the 70s. Inside are decorated by Psychedelic posters and design…remains of Haight’s Hippie mecca days. We sat on the counter facing the open kitchen, witnessing the cook squeezing massive butter oil on the hash brown…^^;;

DSC04908.jpgDSC04906.jpgDSC04907.jpgMY GOODNESS their pork chop was super good! I never had pork chop this good~ VERY tender, juicy and delicious! Most importantly, if you just order the pork chop only it’s just $2.50. The middle pic is their Low-carb special. ^^;;

    Is that tomato on the harsh brown? The pork chop is the rightmost pic? Low carb special is probably super high in calories…Hey, they have tofu scramble!!

    Yeah the rightmost is the pork. When we saw the cook grilling the pork, it looks so normal and rough….we were like…not so sure…so it’s a complete surprise how good it is! The tomato is on some steak or something (Potato is carb right? so no hash brown there). The Low Carb diet was very hyped awhile back, now it died down and no one mention it again, though the restaurant that designed this menu item still have it ^^;;;

    Oh I mean the thing on the left pic together with the egg. Is it tomato sauce/ketchup on harsh brown?

  4. Freda says:

    oh the left pic was my Egg Benedict, no pork in it (Regret~~ should have just get the pork chop ^^:;)
