For the past whole week I’ve been craving Ja Jang Mien, the Korean (well Chinese Korean) kind with black miso paste, onion and cumumber. *q* I read that Mandarin House on Vermont has the best Ja Jang Mien in town. However when I get there it’s called “Jin Heung Gahk” instead. The owner changed? Or perhaps whoever wrote the guide can’t read the actual Korean/Chinese sign because the there was an misleading (outdated?) English signs that said “Mandarin House” outside. ^^;; Whether this is the right one, they seems to be specialized in Ja Jang (black miso paste) too as it’s in half of the menu, even the customer order just the paste to pour over anything. We had the grounded meat kind and the regular ones, the former too meaty for my taste. The onion made the sauce extraordinarily sweet. The group I went with find the sauce too light for their taste, but for me it’s perfect. It’s very addictive. The hand-pull noodles are heavenly good~ I brought some black miso paste myself at the market later and will try to learn it my own. 😀

More Korean food! This is known to be the best tofu place. They got special recipe for their soup base. It’s very very delicious! I got the Beef, pork, clam, shrimp and oyster combination. There’s also a seafood only combination (more seafood-ish flavor). I actually wish there’s more soup and less tofu ^^;;

The wallpaper is gorgeous.
The view to the crappy mini-mall is completely block by this floor-to-ceiling curtain that is almost kitschy with its bold floral graphic. I love it despite it seems questionable at first. The hot pink and black and white is the running color theme inside. The curtain made it feel like an exclusive club. 😀
Pig Candy is bacon with brown sugar. ^^;; They have a good selection of wine.
Farmstead Cheese Plank 12.50 (Cowgirl Red hawk, Matos Dairy St. Jorge, Roogue River Smokey Blue, Cypress Grove Purple Haze, Ewe F-O. I like the stinky Blue cheese most. The Pecan Tart is so-so…a bit soggy.
Cake House Galleria (Koreatown)

This bakery down at the marketspace at the Koreatown Galleria is surprisingly GOOD! Joan said the Mont Blanc reminds her of the good ones from Japan, and the Pumpkin Cake is full of different textures, mousse, sponge cake and pumpkin bites.

Lunch with co-workers. For some reason we got this free appetizer. May be it’s a new dish they’re testing out? It’s deep fried banana wrapping meat. Tasted great!
