Cafe Midi (La Brea)

Went to lunch here with co-workers last week. It was very hot that day but inside were full so we had to sit at the ouside table. Their brown bread is very addictive. Not sure what’s the salad Danielle got, there’s a big piece of blue cheese which is very tempting.

I got the crab and spinach omelette and it’s one of the yummiest omelettes I’ve ever had. Stan got the Thai sausage omelette and he requested for egg white only so the egg is white. The sausage was a bit too spicy though. From another day of lunch: DSCN7201.jpgDSCN7210.jpg
Crab Cake Salad and yummy mousse. DSCN7205.jpgDSCN7204.jpg
More sandwiches.

Oxtail Stew and Coconut Pudding.
We came here long ago when it was called Cafe de Lilly, when it was an okay $$$ French Bistro. The lamp + pavement interior impressed me most. One day it closed. It resurrects (same Chinese owner) as a cheaper and more generic wine bistro. The Oxtail stew was…very buttery but homely tasting. At least…now they’re cheaper.

DSC05836.jpgBack to the wonderful Cora Coffee Shop (old entry). Proscuitto and Egg Sandwich, sounds normal but very fresh very good. Joan has the Buratta Caprese Omelette again. The teapot for tea is errr…ethnic looking. ;D

Napa Valley

Since we don’t have too much time (have to leave around 4-5 to drive 7 hours back home >_<) so we just randomly went to different wineries that seems interesting. Opus One is a fancy big place. Their wine cost accordingly ^^;; The wine tasting tour cost $25, too much so we didn’t do it. There’s a cozy 2nd floor balcony area where you can get some nice views of Napa valley. It’ll be nice to drink and eat there.

DSC05775.jpgDSC05777.jpgWe stumble into this more “commerical” place called Franciscan. It’s cheap, wine tasting only cost $5. They have this one which they mixed Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon that is good and not so pricey. Yan brought 4 bottles. Since I’m such a light drinker, I’ve got a little dizzy when we head back home after this place. ^^;;
