The Local Yolk (Manhattan Beach)

A local beach neighborhood breakfast diner with cute sunnyside up egg as logo, and kitschy beach theme interior. Jalapeño Hash, the jalapeño taste isn’t as strong (too much dough), but the crispy part is yum! 😀

Avenue (Manhattan Beach)

//// By in 17: South Bay

The global killer heat wave last weekend diminished any appetite I have. Even escaping to the beach is futile, the usually cool ocean breeze is just heat…:( This $$$ restaurant by the beach has Sunday Brunch, we sat outside unwittingly . I was sweating thru the entire meal…

Arnold Palmer (Lemonade + tea) is exceptional, they used sparkling water, so cooling! Potato Beef Brisket Hash with eggs, a bit disappointed because the beef brisket wasn’t tender.

Homemade Honey Yogurt with Fig and and the very sweet & fresh Corn Soup. Both are incredible.

The service was turtle speed though (there was only one waitress). She spilled my coffee all over the saucer and promise a replacement, it came by the time I almost finished the cup ^^;; Well it was hot and she’s only one person, so didn’t bother me too much…

Alex’s Gourmet Catering Inc.

//// By in 18: Greater LA

Last week I went on a shoot for one of the jobs we’re currently working on (tv commercial for cellphone). That day we filmed inside a restaurant, and the catering food for lunch is very good~
DSC00403.jpgDSC00405.jpg
Especially the salad bar (there’re way more varieties not in picture). The Ahi Tuna Steak is so delicious~

There’s also a truck for hot food.

Good dessert: the cookies and yogurt smoothies (?)

I only stayed for a bit as I have to get back to work on other jobs, I was JUST in time for this awesome free lunch… 😀

Tere’s Mexican Grill (Melrose Ave)

I always on look out for really good and authentic Mexican restaurant, especially one that’s near to where I live and work. This place is the ultimate answer. It’s a small family-owned neighbourhood favorite that gets very crowded during lunch. Agua de horchata rice water drink, it’s my first time trying this Mexican drink, yummy and refreshing.

sope de pollo, thick tortilla-based appetizer w/chicken. I got the 2 beef tacos with rice and bean, delicious!

2 fish tacos. The tortilla chips are homemade and fresh, you can taste the differences. There’re six type of salsa at the salsa bar, I like the pickled carrots a lot. The guacamole side order is great too. I want to go back and try other stuffs on the menu (heard their burrito is very good).

Fish Grill (Beverly Blvd)

Fried Fish Sandwich. I got the Mesquite Grilled Sea Bass with sides of French fries and Isarel salad. I love the fries! The fish is fresh and taste good, even it’s just simply grilled with a little bit of salt/seasoning. Seems healthy too?

Mesquite Grilled Red Snapper and Fish n’ Chips. All dishes came with tartar sauce and ketchup.

Since he wants credit: Juan discovered this Kosher seafood place on Beverly Blvd and took the lunch group there. It’s sort of a fast food place where you order over the counter and pick them up, but the interior is charming like a bistro. Everyone enjoyed their food. Everything is around $6-$12, reasonably priced. It’s a good causal cheap eats place, next time I want to try their pasta and chowder.
