Inaka Fine Natural Foods (La Brea)

//// By in 09: Weho

Dinner with our vegetarian friend at this Japanese organic restaurant recommend by friends. It’s perfect since I’ve had so much fried greasy food lately. I was told that this place cook very light and do not sugar, eggs or animal fat…etc.

Ume Sho Bancha, supposedly good for skin and many other benefits (I only spotted ‘skin’ ^^;;), I thought…a tea with ume sounds yummy right? Too bad I forgot the ‘sho’ part, which is = shoyu/soysauce. It actually taste like miso soup ^^;;; The Veggie mochi with Pumpkin miso soup. $12 Heavy mochi…!

The Salmon Plate is good. The Tofu Chocolate Mousse is delicious!

Simple bowl of veggie noodle for $14. As my friend Roberta said, they taste like what you’d cook when you’re sick. The food taste as simple and blank as the interior. Generally it’s just way overpriced for homemade quality food (‘i can cook this myself’ kept nagging in my mind the whole time ^^:;).

Cemitas Poblanas (Culver City)

Carnitas sandwich (braised pork), VERY good! Tender, tasty~

Deep Fried Battered Beef. Both sandwiches came with layers of avocado, stringy Mexican cheese (a type of mozzeralla), very chewy, almost chicken-like texture, and very tasty sauce 😀

This is the first time I’ve ever tried eating from Mexican trucks for all the years I’ve been living in LA. You’d find these trucks parked at street corner (usually nearby where a lot of Mexicans worked) where you can ordered tacos, quesadillas, sandwiches (hence it’s fresh made fresh served). This truck parked in front of the Smart n’ Final on Venice Blvd., next to Nataliee Thai. Very good!

Markie D’s (Culver City)

//// By in 13: Culver City

Once again, my friend/food hunter David always found these interesting places I’d never have tried, a Philly cheese steak place called Markie D’s.

Thin Crust Pepperoni Pizza is incredible! So crusty and the cheese, just hot melty cheese + crust just melt in your mouth. The PhillyCheese Steak was a bit tasteless though, too bland. We should have add pepper.

The onion rings are so good~ Melt in your mouth! This place seems famous, according to the autographs on the wall. ^^;;

Three of us shared this, with coupon including drinks it’s $6 each. So cheap! I rarely have very Americana food like this~ 😀 I learned about ‘cheese whiz’ too (this kraft processed cheese that they used to squeeze out onto the Philly cheese steak). ^^;;

DSC00311.jpgHibiscus Juice, and Lengua (cow tongue) and Cabeza (cow cheek) Tacos, the Lengua is so tender and silky~ the homemade corn tortilla is very good too. Big, tasty and cheap ($1.75 each). Tacomiendo, a wonderful Mom n’ Pops Mexican place, wow!!! I want to try everything.
