Michel Richards (Robertson)

There’s always a interesting mix of senior citizens and eccentric (in a filthy rich bad taste way) looking Hollywood ma’ams at Michel Richard on Robertson, making it the most un-hip un-glossy place on the block. But the food and desserts are REAL and very delicious. I love their Pate Sampler plate. Their crosissant is praised as “best in town”, I gotta try them sometimes. Oh I notice there’re tons of renovated new condos for sell around that block…

Organic Cherry Cider, Ricotta with mission fig, black pepper & honey Delicous!!!
DSC06393.jpgChicken Curry Salad with harissa cranberry chutney. This place is blocks from my broker’s office and I always knew about about it but never had the chance to go. Le Pain Quotidien is a Belgian chain cafe and bakery. The high ceiling, communal table and rustic faux country home interior is just so nice. The food are housemade and organic. Their so-called ‘sandwich’ are really more like tartines. Gosh I wish there’s one in my neighborhood! (there’re more chain on Melrose, Beverly Hills and Brentwood).

Our office sometimes order-in from this place Grub when people are swamped with works and can’t go out to eat. So couple of us actually went there for lunch to see how it’s like. Surprisingly it’s a very cute place! I like the basket of carrots, cucumber, tomato and pretzel, different from the usual bread. The onion soup isn’t very good, good thing I only got a small cup. On the other hand the Tomato soup is great! Blueberry lemonade isn’t so good, but I tried their Ginger Ale (not in pix) later and it’s fantastic (there’s actual ginger taste in it).

Stan got the chicken Maffaleta Wrap (chicken, italitan salami, olives, provolone cheese, tomato, celery, romaine with garlic vinaigrette wrapped in flour tortilla) Danielle got the House salad, the dressing is yummy. I got the Bell-a Bell-a Bell-a (tomato, sweeten bellpeppers and lots of brie). All good! At least we shared the Ice-cream sandwich and gosh what a guilty pleasure it is. All of us felt very very guilty afterward…^^;;

A new place opened in Thai Town. Inside is very commericial slick and “designed”, playing nonstop very horrible Celine & Whitney music loudly =,=;; The food are all very tasty yet we can’t help dipping everything with that XO sauce that came with the chips. Yen Ta Four-Pink, very heavy, so-so. Tom Yum on dry is like taking out the yummy soup (the point? I’m not so sure). Generally so-so but at least cheap.

Highland Grounds (Highland)

//// By in 08: Hollywood

DSC06359.jpgDSC06351.jpg
Work is a bit slow these days so I can afford to drive to further away places for longer lunch break with my co-workers. Went to Highland Grounds, a cafe/bar hang out place for the typical Hollywood crowd (actress/actor models musician writer producer whatever). I like the exterior’s colors and painted decoration. Menu wise they have lots of Mexican stuffs. There are live music performance at the evening from Tuesday to Saturday.

DSC06353.jpgDSC06357.jpgDSC06358.jpg
Stan got the Chicken Fajita Plate, he asked for some gucamole and they gave him a tiny bowl and charge it for $2.50! Urghhh. Not sure what’s the salad Danielle got (2nd pix), Brett got Glen’s Fajita Quesadilla. For some reason I forgot to take pix of mine X-O! I got the Chipotle Shrimp which is so incredible spicy that it burns my mouth. But it’s really good at the same time so you can’t stop eating…it’s like pleasure and torture at the same time.
