Yu-Chun (Koreatown)

My korean friend took me to this place in Korean town before which is known for the best Naengmyeons (cold noodle). I didn’t have camera with me that day so I’ve always urge her to bring me back to this place again. 🙂 It’s very close by to my condo. Bean paste (miso?) + tea soup that tasted almost like miso soup but with strong tea flavor. They’re good to drink with while eating cold noodle.

It wasn’t an ideal day to eat Naengmyeons but I got it anyways. I love it very much, definitely the best I’ve ever tried. The broth is delicious and I love the texture of the noodle. My friend got the Beef Bibimbam due to the cold weather. It’s good balanced for me as I was getting more and more chilled by the cold noodle ^^;;

Hehe have sushi (with my sushi-snob co-worker) again~

Oh the ikura is soooo good! It’s very different from the usual super salty trashy tasting ones. It is rich and sweeter, and it has a wonderful subtle aftertaste.

Saba vs Spanish. Spanish are way superior (and more $$$).

John’s Wedding

//// By in 18: Greater LA

DSC06254.jpgDSC06261.jpg
Went to a friend’s wedding over the weekend. He’s a freelancer at IF so many of the guests are my co-workers. It’s interesting to see everybody so dress up and look nice. The wedding is held at the Los Angeles River Center & Gardens at Echo park, it’s an outdoor space and the weathers been bad. Fortuantely the rain stopped when the ceremoney started. The ceremony was short and smooth, which was good because I was starving!

After the ceremony, the guests headed out to another area for the bar and snacks. The Mushroom potsticker was really good though a bit oily. The Shrimp wrapped in zucchini was a good but I liked the Brie with pommengranite the best, it’s such a great combo. Tuna Tartar was a bit bland (as most tuna tartar are). I was so hungry that I keep eating them whenever they’re brought over.

Fondue! $22 (meant for 2 but 3 of us shared it)

Masala Chai & non-alcoholic Ginger Beer taste like carbonated yakult drink, yum!

Chocolate Shouffle and Gelato in expresso
We finally tried Fatty’s, a friend’s recommended vegetarian cafe at Eagle rock that appears casual but with fine dining quality. I was so impressed once I stepped inside, the festive lights and hip loft-like modern + cabin interior, walls of magazines, wine bottles and coffee and dessert, I love it already! 😀 The vibe inside is hip and lively. They were playing Pink Martini. We didn’t wait long enough for the cheese to melt and ‘wasted’ a lot in the beginning ^^lll The brocolli was cooked so they get a bit too soft and broke apart while dipping. It is just so good! YES I have finally found my favorite veggie restaurant!

Brian’s Halloween Party

My IF co-worker Brian is amazing in decorating and hosting Holloween parties. We were all so impressed by last year’s (especially with the wax-covered firepalce) that we wondered how he could top himself this year. And boy did he top it. This year the party is even more impressive, more $ spend with more crazy labor. The theme was Day of the dead. He made a giant skull head out of paper mache which he put it on top of a tree. On the front lawn there’s a mechanical bull which is a lot of fun, though I didn’t go on because the pants I wore was a little too tight so I was afraid something might happen…^^;; Like last year there’s a pumpkin carving contest. Brian’s roomate works for the Ellen Degeneres show and he got them to donate a flat screen TV for the winner. But I had no idea who the winner was in the end.
