Newly opened on Sawtelle. Since this is the westside where it lack non-Japanese Asian food, it is a good news whether this Korean tofu house is authentic or not (“Tofu-Ya”…err…). The three of us shared two tofu sets (one with the beef the other bibimbap), pretty good! The tofu was not spicy enough (we only order 2nd level, should have gone higher). The side-dishes are basic and ok. Pretty good overall~~
Tofu-Ya (Sawtelle)

This beach side italian restaurant was right across the street from my office and for almost a year I’ve never considered setting foot in there…I have no idea why either. Finally I did, the interior is kitschy retro Italian~ The food are just as I expected: generic and predictable. I had the basic and safe Meatball Spaghetti, quite good actually, not too sour and sweet enough for my taste.
Vietnamese Sandwich
//// By Freda in 01: San Gabriel
There are more and more Vietnamese sandwich places opening in San Gabriel valley (ex: Mr. Baguette, Paris Sandwich, etc). but I still habitually get take out from the vietnamese food booth at the cafeteria nearby my house, almost every Sunday (yet I couldn’t remember its name! ^^;;). And I habitually ordered the Vietnamese Sausage and Ham. I’m such a regular customer that they knew not to put the jalapeno in there.

Back to the fairly new dim-sum place known for ‘creative dishes’ with group of friends.. Still disappointed that they don’t have pan-fried radish cake (my must-have). Top leftest pic is the very delicious Taro-bun, Jen was hooked on them and ordered another plateful (and ate them all!). The green ones are the Green Tea Riceballs with black seseme paste inside. The two bottom leftmost pics are both Shumai, one traditional, the other ‘neo’ version…I can barely taste the difference. Unstead of salty-egg york on top, they are masago. Still l find overall quality alright.
Tampopo (inside Mitsuwa)
//// By Freda in 11: West LA
Since I found the Mitsuwa market nearby my office (which is probably one of the smallest and cheapest looking one), I often ate quick cheap lunch there. Seafood Cold Ramen is quite good. Though last time I was there, there was a very loud Japanphile American guy sitting in the next table, preaching about Natto and how he must have Natto everyday blah blah…^^;;
