The best veggie food I had over the funeral weekend was this take out from local Chinese restaurant. Spicy Seseme Sauce Noodle. The soup is not that hot despite the redness and it’s surprisingly tasty! The noodle as well.

Dinner here with Yan last week. This long time Shanghai restaurant is ever so popular, even though all the businesses surrounding it has changed so much over the years. I rarely came here (2nd time?), but their Crab Meat Dumplings are way more yummy than the famous Din Tai Fung. The skin are not as delicate as Din but their stuffings and the soup inside are so delicious…and most importantly much cheaper and unpretentious. It was so good that we order another servings. The Wine Dreg Black Seseme-filled Rice Ball has heavier ‘Rice wine’ flavor (hence a bit sour) but still very good. This Shanghainese girl I know said this place met her standard and definitely better than Din.

From the day before our all-vegetarian weekend started. Back to that expensive place (for lunch) even though I said unlikely ^^;; I never like cutlet but I just wanted to try since there isn’t much choice in their menu (either grilled beef, chicken, fish or cutlet). It was…alright. I also found out that their rice is supposedly special (Komada rice?) but I can’t tell much differences. It was cooked a bit more ‘raw/hard’ for my fast eating lazy-to-chew habit. It became easier to eat after we discovered a well-hidden can of furikake on the table. ^^;;

It was a historic diner dated from 20s, now turned Italian organic, gourmet cafe. From the name you’d think it’s coffee-to-go, and the tiny grey little cubic building is easily missed on the road. My goodness the Caprese Omlette is so unbelievably delicous, light and fresh~ Omlette can be this good! The Kobe-style Burger is very good! The owner came out and told us about it being their popular item and reviewed on paper. Probably because he saw me taking picture of the place ^^;; I came here with Yan, who told me about the $5 supposedly fresh lemonade she had last time was not fresh at all…hmm…so beware ($5 is one expensive lemonade).
