La Parisienne (Monrovia)
//// By Freda in 02: Pasadena![]()
More local French restaurant hunting! Found La Parisienne in Monrovia. Worried that it might be pricey, we checked with them on the phone (they said: $16-$27). Turns out it added up to be rather pricey! The interior is country French feel with dark wood, flowers, lace curtains and a fire place. The female host has an intimidating, humorless, uptight, stern face that reminded me of Mrs. Denvers ^^;;; But they were playing incredibly cheesy music (those easy-listening music version of 70s hits) -,-lll

Sawtelle Kitchen (Sawtelle)
//// By Freda in 12: SawtelleJapanese- Western food. This is their 2nd chance. We ate here before (my art director recommended it) and not only it was so-so, but our car got towed because of it. Maybe we didn’t order the right items so we’d try them again. This place is tiny and has a really nice country style interior. The coffee was very good.
Hamburg Steak with demi-glaze sauce $8.75 Very normal. The sauce is too light! I’ve had better elsewhere. The salad was good though.
Red Snapper with Japanese vinegar soysauce $8.75 Alright…ok… too light…
Verdict? No more 3rd chance 🙁 Perfect for a “I’ll go there if it’s nearby my office and want good food to fill stomach daily” but not qualify for a weekend lunch.

Le Margret de Canard with Sweet Peppercorn sauce $12.47 I should have ordered it rare, but it’s still very good. Fillet (forgot the name) $14.50, done rare, really good especially with the sauce! Curry Chicken Sandwich $8.75 Two people ordered this and said it’s superb! There’re apple and raisin in the curry.
We saw Kristin Dunst walked by in front of the cafe. She wore a black halter top and Chanel sunglasses. 😀
