五十番

前回肉まんをゲットした時、中身の写真を取ろうと、手で分けてみたら、熱い肉汁がじゅわっと出てきて＝＞手にやけど＝＞慌ててがっつく
＝＞撮影失敗。今回は黒豚の特製肉まん。五目まんもトンポーロー肉まんも食べたけど、ベーシックな肉まんの方が一番ジューシーで最高に美味しい。

Les Ailes Vertes (レ・ゼール・ヴェルト＠神谷町)

This restaurant's owner sells meat so the cooking-style is simple but quality of the meat is really high. The choco cake has hot choco fudge inside which is really yummy~~Actually it is my second time to dine in this restaurant. Check out my old entry.

フォアグラのパテ。埼玉産シェフこだわり豚骨付きロースの炭火焼。美味しい～！Foie gras pate. Roasted pork. Simple but juicy - meat heaven ho ho.

とろ～りとろけるチョコレートケーキ、バニラアイス添え。ベリーグッド～！ピスタチオのブランマンジェー、カプチーノ仕立て。Chocolate cake. Pistachio blanc manger.
一人５５００円ぐらいだった。とてもシンプルな味付けで美味しいお肉を楽しむ店だよ。

神楽坂 SHUN seasondining

江戸前すずきの旬野菜あんかけ、１０００円。出てきた時、揚げた魚にがっかりしたけど、軽く揚げただけなので、オッケー。ご飯が足りなくて、おかわりを頼んだら、さっきの２倍の量が出てきた、、、残すわけにはいけないので、今日も食べすぎ。 Light fried seabass with veggy starchy sauce. Not bad but got very thirsty afterwards. Ate two bowls of rice and was stuffed.

ラリアンス (L'Alliance)

パンはグッド。

江戸前穴子と帆立貝、蕪のグレックを添えて。スペアリブのロゼシャンパン煮込み。パンにシャンパンソースを絡めて食べると美味しい。

"Menu Tasting" lunch、１９００円。お飲み物（ワインかコーヒー）が一杯付く。全種類のデザートとアイスがすこしずつ食べられる"Grand dessert"、１２５０円。店員さんが気取ってなくて、感じがいい。

クレープの巾着包み、１０００円。赤いフルーツのスープとピスタチオのアイス、１０００円。美味しいわ～！フルーツのスープの方を食べたけど、甘すぎなく、酸っぱすぎもない。すばらしい。ピスタチオアイスも香ばしくて、美味しい。

根菜、アップルとマンゴー、平貝のサラダ。
魚の盛り合わせ：イサキ、軽いスモーク。モチカツオの生姜風味。本マグロの赤ワインと生姜風味。

美味しいパン。さくらんぼの冷製パスタ。

豆のグリル、豆苗のサラダ。
ボイルハム、温泉卵、グリーンアスパラガスとホワイトアスパラガス。

美味しいパンAGAIN.　トリッパのペンネ。

西瓜ジュース。牛ロースト。

地鳥のロースト。エスプレッソ以外は全部コースに入ってる。量と質にノックダウンされたよ。

Bistro Ideale

ホタテとビーツのサラダマヨネーズ和え。スズキとメダイのポワレ、香草のソース。コーヒー付きで１２６０円。魚がジューシーで香ばしくて美味しかった。Scallop and beets mayonnaise salad. 2 kinds of fried fish. Tasted great!

洋風居酒屋花まる亭

若鶏モモ肉のフロマージュ仕立て　ケッパー風味、１０５０円。簡単なチキングラタンでもちょっと工夫すると、印象が全然違うね。美味しい。スープ、サラダ、パン付き。プラス３１５円でデザートのチーズケーキとコーヒーが付く。

Vancouver, Canada

In Prince George, we went to a park, some malls that close at 5pm(huuuh?!), some supermarkets, and of course visited my sister's college......not much to see not much to do really. Vancouver is much better in terms of sight-seeing, and rather irrelevant perhaps but people are not fat like in Prince George - seeing too much obesity is depressing. I have been to Vancouver before but I was backpacking at that time; this time a handy local guide with a car, i.e. my uncle, was taking us around so we ended up NOT seeing much of the touristy spots but rather visiting places that locals go - like residential areas with beautiful houses, local shopping streets, chinese districts that you don't hear any English. Pictures from left to right: View from our hotel room. The clock clicks 7, pm!!! Sun doesn't set til after 9pm. Local shopping street near my uncle's house in West Vancouver. Beaver Lake in Stanley Park - the only touristy place I re-visited this time.

A really good Cantonese noodle place in Richmond. I remember the shop name but can't type in Japanese characters. Anyway, my other sister who travelled from home with my parents stopped taking pictures of the food from this day onwards.....understandable. ^^;;;

My uncle's recommendation, very good indeed.

The "Alaska crab" becomes the two dishes below.

Durian ice-cream is excellent. Had it twice during my stay.

富臨(Fortune Restaurant)
Great dim sum place. Exceptionally good "Deep fried Honey Dan San".

hugo restaurant
3254 Cambie Street.

My uncle's favourite steak house - very HK cafe style. I had lobster bisque which was a bit salty, and charboiled prime grade rib-eye steak, with red wine liver sauce. The steak was quite soft. There was a big telly showing HK channels....

CINNZEO
Cinnaroll. I was surprised when my uncle brought me here to have gwai-lo sweets, but it is really quite nice. Not too sweet and the bread has very chewy texture, good!

客満庭(Northern Delicacy)
Nice interior, nice name for a Shanghai restaurant, but the food was so-so. Found an insect in the soup - yuck.

Basically we were just hanging around in chinese districts with no white Canadians, not that I care much but, no wonder my sister decided to move to Prince George - she said she couldn't speak a word of English after staying in Vancouver for 2 years. Wise decision indeed, Prince George is sad and boring but at least that keeps all the chinese away. ^^;;

Tim Hortons

First day we had burger king for lunch(urgh)....and then my sister who lives there cooked dinner for us(very impressed!). Tim Hortons was lunch on day 2(donuts too sweet urgh), and we went to a hotel buffet for dinner(urghx3).

Moxie's Classic Grill
A couple of bad meals in a row made me decide to ignore my parents(who dislike western food) and the local guide(my sister) and take control of the eating issue. Found this restaurant by pure luck, went in with my sisters to try their cocktails first and check out the menu, seemed okay, then dragged my parents there for lunch the next day. It is not fantastic, but it is like an oasis in the middle of a desert.

Honey roasted garlic sirloin steak. Almond crusted salmon.

Penne carbonara with chicken. Mediterranean calamari salad.

Banana caramel xango - creamy, light banana cheesecake wrapped in a pastry tortilla. Dusted with cinnamon-sugar and served with warm caramel, ribbons of chocolate and vanilla ice-cream.
Mini mocha mud pie - rich chocolate fudge and mocha ice-cream.

Bellini and ice-mochacino we ordered during our scout mission.

Found this restaurant thru a hurried search in the internet, which turned out to be so-so. The only good dish was the veal chop which was tender and juicy.

Veal chop served with a wild mushroom cream sauce.

Seafood soup - mussels, scallops, tiger prawns and fresh water shrimp in a roma tomato and white wine broth.
Bistro salad - baby organic greens with grilled prosciutto and free range eggs with a red wine vinaigrette.

Tabliolini with a white truffle infused sauce and Bella Lody parmesan.
Lobster ravioli - Lobster stuffed ravioli served with a tomato and fresh basil sauce.
Chocolate tiramisu, no good.

玄武ラーメン。美味しいけど、しょっぱい。トッピングのキャベツはグッド。Last meal before heading to the airport. Nice but too salty for my parents...actually for me too.

しら石＠目黒

炭火焼牛ヒレと土鍋ご飯のコース、６０００円。All the fish and veggie dishes were really yummy so we were really looking forward to the grilled beef and the hotpot rice, which were the main, which we waited til my mom and sister fell asleep on the table, which turned out to be a bit disappointing - we were really impressed by the beef lunch we had the day before, so this one seemed such a little portion and too dry and hard in comparison, and the rice was too dry to our taste. Anyway, the dessert was nice and we had the little compartment to ourself which was nice.

東寿司岩＠築地

特上、２２００円。えびの味噌汁と茶碗蒸しがすごく美味しかった。Dad wanted sashimi so I took them to Tsukiji and just went into the first sushi place we saw - bad choice, should have done more research....but then I was planning to take them to tempura! Sudden change of plan is a bad idea.
