Angeli Caffe (Melrose)

By in 09: Weho

Angeli Caffe is another old timer on Melrose. The asymmetrical triangular based interior suggest the once trendy 80s past, but it’s now a friendly casual Italian restaurants with mostly older, silver haired patrons.

They have many tasty appertizers. Potato croquettes with salame and smoked mozzarella Smokey and very flavored, so good!

Fettuccine Bolognese: rich meat sauce with dried porcini mushrooms and wine. This is incredible! The Fettuccine have this very light but highly chewy texture. The sauce is delicious. Everything is so perfectly cooked.

Mushroom Garlic Pesto Risotto with Scallop and Nuts I forgot the name of the nuts. Every bite is a contrast of moist risotto and crunchy chomping texture. Very good.

I can tell why this is an old favorite, I want to try everything on the menu. The chef has written many cookbooks and got her own radio show. I can’t wait to go back.

The bread is so huge! Or is it a close-up?

The bread is really that huge, nibble by the entire table? I’ve seen these big breads in Italian restaurant often (usually cut + in the middle)
