Cafe Brazil (Culver City)

//// By in 13: Culver City

Cafe Brazil at Palms has opened up another location at Culver City, it is much closer for me from work…and perfect to catch the World Cup game~ 😀

Everyone was rooting for Portugal of course…oh the agony and disapointment~

Special of the day: Portugese Sausage (good but very tiny portion) and assorted pastries: Heart of Palm empanadinho, cheese bread (stale) and chocolate caramel (not too sweet).

The quality isn’t as good as the original Palms one. My friends got the usual executive lunch “Dark meat chicken”, the meat are tougher white meat and not marinated well. But the interior is much bigger, big parking lot, two giant TV screens…hmm…dilemma….

Izayoi (Little Tokyo)

A new izakaya opened! My friend recommended it so here we go:

Uni Chawanmushi and Homemade Tofu of the day, DELICIOUS!

The waitress recommended their Seafood Croquette , it’s good but still..just croquette. Plum Stingray, crisp and tasty!
DSC00265.jpgDSC00273.jpg
Sauteed Oyster, smell so good~ A bit too sweet though. But the Simmered Pork was a let down, the flavor isn’t deep enough and meat a bit dry. Can’t compare to this.
DSC00261.jpgMost of these are special of the day menu, I can’t wait to go back to try new stuffs. There was a bit of a wait on a Thursday night, and we had to see on the counter. Good to find another good izakaya! 😀

Randomly venture inside one of the many many vietnamese noodle places in Chinatown. This one is completely full, though after I sat down I realized all customers are Latino families (they do order good stuffs though ^^;;). I got the Jackfruit Jelly Milk tea (rather scary looking), and Mixed sausage and springroll vermicelli noodle. Great!

DSCN7666.jpgOld entry I forgot to post. Had brunch with Jon here. We both got Huevos Rancheros, the mexican breakfast. It looks quite different from the one Freda had in the previous entry as well as the one she had in Puerto Vallarta. As you can see the sauce is yellow instead of red. It taste alright as it didn’t leave much impression on me. The Hibiscus lemonade is good though. The designy industrial interior reminded me of art center. I like the vibe and would like to go back to try more stuffs.

Cora Coffee Shoppe (Santa Monica)

These days the internet is always down at the office (wonder if the house renovation up the hill sabotages our connection…). I had my brunch at Cora Coffee Shoppe while waiting for it to be fixd. I crave Huevos Rancheros all the time (need to learn how to make myself), this one is lighter tasting than I liked but still delicious!
