Northern Chinese Restaurant (Alhambra)

//// By in 01: San Gabriel

I delayed putting this entry up because I accidently delete half of the photos~ 🙁 (and couldn’t recovered them). There were 4 of us, every dishes were big and CHEAP!
DSC00249.jpgDSC00244.jpg
Cold Vegetable (just like..salad…? ^^:;) and this Cucumber with tofu and jelly noodle is my absolute favorite. The sauce mustard with soy sauce. The jelly noodle is made from squash (?). What a great treat for summer.
DSC00247.jpgDSC00251.jpg
Winter melon and lamb soup, delicious and good for summer. Northern Style Beef Pancake.
DSC00252.jpgSnowflake Potstickers, what a nice touch~

The best dishes was the Stew Pork (lost its picture T__T), it was so incredible, very tender and tasty! To think it was such a huge dish that only cost $5! Another dish’s picture I lost was the Cumin Lamb, also very good~ (a bit musky but the cumin flavor covered it pretty much).

Margarita~ There’re actually 3 different levels of Margaritas in these pictures, the standard, the gold, and the special best. One really outshine the other in that order (from good to best). So satisfied!!!

888 Restaurant (San Gabriel)

//// By in 01: San Gabriel

If there were a ‘family restaurant’ where my family would regularly go back, it is this one. It’s been over 10 years and we kept coming back even though there are new and better ones out there, even if it always have noisy wedding banquets. However this time when we went, their menu is entirely CHANGED! Is it under new management and chefs/staffs now?
DSC00231.jpgDSC00232.jpg
Spicy Clam pot is quite good! The Tofu pot is tasty but a bit too sweet.
DSC00234.jpgDSC00235.jpg
Scallop with eggs. The dessert is very good!
We also ordered lobster but I forgot to take picture. It was sort of a ‘miss’ as they used to cook lobster SO perfectly before. Generally too sweet, which I don’t mind but…

Scoop (Koreatown)

//// By in 07: Mid-Wilshire

DSC00230.jpgBack here! This time we got: Chocolate Wasabi (reminds me of Mexican chilli chocolate! Spicy!) and Kiwi sesame. The one at the back is Mocha with Sunflower Seed (LOVE this one!) and Green Tea Vanilla. 😀

Il Chianti (Lomita)

//// By in 17: South Bay

Il Chianti is a chain Italian restaurant from Japan.
DSC00214.jpgDSC00219.jpg
Beef Tataki (so flavored and tender) and Bruschetta with foie gras, sea urchin and mackerel-tartar (oh my sooo delicious! *O*) and . Though both taste rather sweet.
DSC00224.jpgDSC00225.jpg
Hot Stone Pot arlic falvor cheese Risotto. Joan said she ate this in Japan and was so unforgettable. Indeed, it is sooo multi-flavored. Rather a bit too sweet again….^^;;
DSC00211.jpgDSC00226.jpg
Their ‘Los Angeles’ division is actually at Lomita (ok I’d say it: middle-of-nowhere X-D). When we drove out there we were told that there’d be a 45 minutes wait. We could have turn back to Torrance for any of the good Japanese places, but what the heck…Lomita is too far a drive to come back to try again. The vibe inside does made me feel like in Tokyo. The food is great though the taste is overal sweeter (Japanese taste?). There’re many many things to try on menu. Next time if we went again make sure it’s a bigger party, so we can order many big bowl of pasta to share.
