Sasabune (Brentwood)

//// By in 10: Beverly Hills

For our birthday, it’s sushi at Sasabune.:D Yan’s coworker is a friend of one of the sushi chef, so we got reserved seats at his end of the bar. There were 2 course to choose from, the American and Japanese…Yan forgot which one she ordered.

Cooked Butterfish.

My favorite of the night: salmon with seaweed kelp and scallop (melt in your mouth), my goodness so good! *O*

The course finished with Blue crab hand roll. By this time everyone is bursting full…but this is too good~

The fish are incredibly fresh and good. I had little choice though, didn’t get to have uni. Even the seaweed smell very good too. Charles paid for everyone, it was so generous of him, THANK YOU! At the door there’s a sign stated “Absolutely no spicy tuna roll” XD AWESOME!

Susina (Beverly Blvd)

//// By in 09: Weho

I’ve been to this bakery when it was just opened few years ago and was called Sugarplum. Somehow it’s changed to Susina. Since then I rarely went back as it’s where Joan’s company always get their birthday cakes and cookies (for client). They’re very good but after many times of the same thing…err…

Mango banana pineapple tea ^^;; novelty at first but toward the end it gets too mixed-fruit for my tea

Sandwiches: Brie with Pear and Prosciutto and Mozzarella

Since I always have their cookies at the company, I know which ones are my favorites 😀

There’s a tarot reader working inside…hmm…;)

Farfalla (Los Feliz)

//// By in 04: Los Feliz

I’ve been craving pasta these days, so I went back to the rustic little Italian corner at Los Feliz.
DSC09451.jpgDSC09450.jpg
The bread is delicious~ even the olive oil is richly spiced with herbs and tomatoes, the aroma~~
DSC09454.jpgDSC09457.jpg
Go classic: Bolognese Fettucine, the fettucine is so thin and freshly homemade, however I didn’t like the presence of the green peas. Spaghetti with Black Pepper Tomato sauce and Pancetta, oh my this is absolutely DELICIOUS! Tasty sauce and smokey, tender meaty bacon, I’ve found THE ONE that I’d come back here for.

Grill Lyon (Little Tokyo)

//// By in 06: Downtown LA

I never knew there’s a Japanese French restaurant in Little Tokyo all these years, what’s wrong with me!? The interior of Grill Lyon is badly lit and undesign, but the mostly white haired patrons indicated the food must be classic and solid quality (a never wrong rule for French food I’ve learn that only works on LA ~ ^_-).
DSC09424.jpgDSC09430.jpg
Foie-Gras of Apple $14, delicious~ White miso marinated Chilean Sea Bass with Balsamic Pistachio top $18, is really stunning!
DSC09425.jpgDSC09434.jpg
Got my lamb fix with the incredible Peppered Lamb Chop ($24). Very good! YES!!!
DSC09432.jpgThe desserts weren’t so good unfortunately, Orange Mousse and Pear Jelly…the fruit flavor are syrupy and too sugary. Should have stayed with cheesecake or chocolate. They sold out their duck that night unfortunately, as well as the special of the night which was a sushi-style Tuna…T_T But we’re very satisfied with our dishes. I can’t wait to go back (even for the lamb again and again)! So great to find an affordable casual good French place nearby where we live.

Blue Marlin (Sawtelle)

//// By in 12: Sawtelle

DSC09436.jpgHaven’t been back to Blue Marlin (where I used to get my yoshoku/pasta/curry fix) for awhile, their menu has changed quite a bit. Sea Urchin Cream Omelette Rice is unique and delicious~~~ *q* That’s why I love this place, always uni to everything. ;D
