Bistro Beaux (Torrance)

A new (?) western style Izakaya place! Ume Daikon and Mushroom with Uni. Both very delicious and unique tasting.

Baked Oyster with white sauce and Uni Spaghetti. There are a bit too much cheese and sauce on the oyster, but good nonetheless.

DSC07750.jpgSaw an ad of this place on a Japanese free paper which seems interesting (nice colorful pictures) ^^;; Wanted to try it but it’s all the way out at Torrance, and it’s only open for dinner. So last weekend we made an effort to go there. There’re so many interesting sounding dishes on the menu! Too bad there were only two of us so we couldn’t try more as our stomach wouldn’t be able to handle the load. Next time we should gather a group.

Who’s On 3rd (3rd St.)

//// By in 09: Weho

DSC07737.jpgDSC07742.jpgWe’ve been shopping for furnitures around the Beverly Blvd/3rd street/La Brea area on weekends. We randomly hopped into this place for Brunch. The Pineapple Smoothies is very good ! Sweet potato fries is so so, too greasy.

DSC07739.jpgDSC07740.jpg Both taste very BLAH. In fact the french onion soup is way too salty that it’s impossbile to drink. I had to ask for a cup of hot water and pour in 3/4 of it to the soup to water it down. Taste gross after all the water though.

Vero’s Wedding

//// By in 18: Greater LA

DSC07584.jpgDSC07593.jpgDSC07596.jpgDSC07594.jpgVeronica’s wedding a whole different experience. It’s held at the historic Wattle Mansion up on the Hollywood Hill. A spanish style mansion that’s positioned on a slope hill, so the front lawn has an amazing near-panoramic view of the LA city (where the ceremony took place), and behind the mansion you get a beautiful garden that goes up the hill! Check the website for better views of the mansion as my pictures don’t do the justice. I felt like in an old hollywood glam party!

The dining is out door by the garden. Each guest get this really cool Indonaisan mask. Red is the theme of the wedding, so the garden is lit up by reddish light. It gives a fiery festive mood to the party.

Tina’s Wedding

DSCN0203.jpgDSCN0206.jpgDSCN0205.jpgDSCN0215.jpg
What an eventful month already, 2 weddings one week from another. First is Tina’s Wedding held at the Santa Anita Race Track which is very close to my parent’s house! I’ve lived there all these years but I never step in once so this is a good chance to check it out. At first I got a little worried as I arrived when passing through the ticket booth and elevator…seeing many ojisans in flip flops here and there. ^^;; I followed numorous signs that go on and on and began to think “where’re the guests?”. At last I arrived at an old luxurious room with open-view of the track and mountain. Wow! I wish I could see the view at daytime. The room made me felt like I was in a country club back in the 30s-40s. It’s funny that all the monitors have congradulation message to the couple on them.

Le Pain Quotidien (Santa Monica)

//// By in 16: Santa Monica

DSC07753.jpgDSC07756.jpg

Since then this has became my fav lunch spot. Coffee is very good (drank out of a bowl ^^;;).Belgian Sardine and Beets. Beets’ color are so strong that it stained their light wood table when I dropped some (and can’t be wiped with water O_o;;;).
