Snapshots! The central part (Broadway St.) of Soho is very lameass commercial. It gets better and better toward West (highend fashion boutique + cobblestone road) and toward east (more indie/hipster).

La Table O & Co. (NYC: Soho)

French Toast and Pear Tart. 😀 Delicious!
DSC07811.jpgI went window shopping at Soho the 2nd day. Despite the long walks and hunger in the bitter coldness, I insisted on finding a cute cafe for breakfast. I finally found one inside the L’Occitane shop (a lot of shops in NYC have cafe inside, an aspect I like about leg-torturing metropolitan cities). While I was eating, the fire alarm in the store accidently went off. A fire truck arrived so fast and a troop of firemen came in to inspect. Despite the loud alarm, everyone remained calm and get on with their lives seconds later as if nothing ever happened…^^;;

Craftbar (NYC: Gramercy)

//// By in 03: NYC, Favorite Food Entries

The first day is officially a client’s day so even our meal is charged on them. 😀 Our producer been to this casual New York restaurant before and brought us there.

Mine: Pan-Roasted Foie Gras (very oily but heavenly), Maine Sea Urchin Spaghetti (so fresh, sauce so flavored) and my dessert Steamed Orange Polenta Cake with Pomegranate Sorbet. *O* (my god I haven’t had pomegranate since I was little in HK~~)

DSC07788.jpgDSC07795.jpg
Others: Endive Salad and Chatham Cod

DSC07794.jpgDSC07801.jpg
Slow-Roasted Sirloin, Crispy Chocolate Gateau, Caedamon Icecream

Everything is delicious and the menu is unique. By ‘casual’ of course meaning a more loosen up but still go-out-at-night no jean attair type of slight dress-upsy vibe that are not common in LA ^^;;; It has a nice New York scene. And the price is still $$ level, because this restaurant is actually a spin-off from a way more highend restaurant called simply “Craft.” It’s in here that I experienced the ‘shaking’ of the subway underground. Most 1st floor in every building will feel the shake and noise of the subway train underneath.

Arrive New York at 6 am…

//// By in Travel

DSC07759.jpgI never fly a redeye flight nor been to the Big Apple before. When we arrived at 6 in the morning, we found that the hotel we booked has no empty room at the moment and we cannot check-in until noon. Our sleep deprived gang were desperate for some few hour of sleep before meeting the client in the afternoon. We had breakfast at a nearby cafe (pretty good! Though later I realize even though cafe/deli are populated densely in every block, this cafe’s quality is really pretty darn good compare to some consider its location at a wholesale area…).

Furaibo (Sawtelle)

Just got these pictures from Yan’s camera, a dinner from many weeks ago. We ordered quite a lot and finished everything even though there were only just two of us “skinny” girls :P! There are so many items on the menu that it was kind of hard to choose. Yan said their quality is not so consistence either, some dishes are great some aren’t. The Beef tataki is good but I like Yabu‘s better. Forgot what the tofu thing is called, but it’s very good.

The Eggplant is a little too heavy and oily. I love the ishikari nabe (Salmon stew with sake) very much.

Haban cheese and Enoki mushroom and scallop are both good. The Chawanmushi isn’t so good though. The egg custard is so rough, even though the soup base is quite tasty, I’ve had much better ones elsewhere.
