Niagara Fall at night

//// By in Travel

DSC04033.jpgMore touristy postcard shots! They projected lights onto the fall every night at 9pm-Midnght. Though during this time of the year, the sky doesn’t turn black until almost 10pm (and sun comes up as early as 4:30am). I love this time zone where day seems so long. The circular shadow was casted by the hot air balloon, which was actually very very far away, amazing how much larger the shadow was.
DSC03786.jpgDSC04041.jpgThe fireworks show is only on Friday, Sunday and holiday. The left pic is view from US, right pic is view from Canada. I found the US view is better, as it has perfect scenic composition from Canada’s elaborate hotel buildings and the Skylon Tower. There’s nothing on US side to serve as backdrop for Canada. ^^;; It’s quite amazing that such spectacular (and expensive) fireworks is played at least twice a week. All those rip-off charges paid off?

Edgewater (Niagara Fall)

//// By in 00: Canada

wateredge05.jpgDSC03897.jpgThis entry will be the perfect example that sums up all the BAD and OVERPRICED food that pissed you off in the fall area. You have no choice: either starve, fast food, or drive miles away into the country to get decent food. This place is at least one of the cutest place, but just because they have the golden location of the open window view of the fall, they can charge a really really bad and bland entree of tasteless salmon $40 a plate, and $15+ for appertizer. At least I get warmed up by the Monte Cristo: Grand Marnier + Kuhlua + Coffee.

wateredge01.jpgwateredge02.jpgwateredge04.jpgSome seafood cake with salsa sauce appertizer that they charged for $15. Some cajun chicken, and this frozen veggie wrap that was just too gross to eat. I asked the waitress to heat it up for me and she gave me a weird look. After years living in US, I still can’t comprehend the preference of eating cold sandwiches. They felt so lazy and un-prepared, everything’s hard to chew, too cold for taste bud to contact any sort of taste or texture. Yuk!

Niagara Fall

//// By in Travel

fall01.jpgThe mighty horseshoe Niagara Fall! We took the boat as shown in the pic down there and got ourselves all soaking wet. When we get really close, the fog and splashes were so intense that we can’t really opened our eyes. I heard that in certain seasons there’re less water and the boat will go behind the fall.

So it’s the time of Memorial Day Holiday weekend and we had our annual family trip. This time we go up to Ontario, Canada, mainly around the Niagara Fall area. My oh-so-well-thoughtout dad, instead of nonstop flight to Toronto, he made the ‘supposedly more convenient’ plan that lay out like this:

Jones (West Hollywood)

//// By in 09: Weho

DSC03729.jpgDSC03732.jpgDSC03734.jpgDSC03737.jpg(Still clearing old entries). My friend loves this place a lot but I find it just ok based on this visit. Very dark inside, I wasn’t so hungry so I got an appetizer Prosciutto with Fig which is a can’t-go-wrong combination. The Spinach salad is my friend’s. We share the desert Lemon sorbet (good but normal) and creme burlee (toooo sweet, no good). The stuffs on menu seems rather generic to me? Well I guess you don’t really go there for the food.

Palermo Italian Restaurant (Los Feliz)

//// By in 04: Los Feliz

DSC03654.jpgDSC03656.jpg Better clear up these old entries before moving on! My friend got a rec from someone that this place has really good pizza so we went to try. Err…..it tastes BAD!! The crust is so damn thick (yuck), the cheese is too heavy and the sauce is so bland tasting. I only ate half a slice. The spinach salad is ok…nothing really special. Will never go back.
