Marina del Rey Boat Docks

//// By in Travel

DSC02235.jpgDSC02238.jpgWe have time to kill during lunch time (finished the crepes in 5-10 mins you know). We got some fresh air at the Marina del Rey boat dock area. It is a men made bay and there’s even a men made beach there. There are thousands of yachts and hotels all around.

DSC02239.jpgAWESOME! From a trash can~ X-D

Really no wonder I prefer the west side and want to live out here.

Musha (Santa Monica)

//// By in 16: Santa Monica

DSC02215.jpgBack to Musha. We got the Cheese tofu and the broiled mackerel again since they’re so good. Others were all new stuffs we never try before. Plum Wine, too little (plus watered down on rock)! Three people, total $69 including tax and tips.

Takotama, so-so. Duck The raw meat was cook first on the little coal stove (there’s alcohol and onion in the soup). Then pour into the bowl. Very delicious!

DSC02222.jpg Musha Risotto , the server serves it from inside of a big parmesan cheese. The rice is brown rice. Delicious! So heavy though, good thing it came at last.

Mercedes Cuban Grille (Marina del Rey)

//// By in 14: Marina del Rey

DSC02179.jpgDSC02188.jpgDiscovered a new area right by the Marina del Rey beach (see previous entry) where there’re many restaurants, horrible surfer beach clothes and bike rental. We chose this Cuban & Caribbean place. The dishes sound creative, especially the seafood entree…but they are too pricey. ($18+, a bit guilty high for a regular work day lunch). So we ordered ‘from the land.’ All entrees served with rice, black beans and plantains. Roasted Cuban Pork $8.5 smothered in garlic & citrus with grilled onions. The meat is a bit dry and the sauce sour because of the citrus.

DSC02187.jpgDSC02189.jpgPan Roasted Stuffed Jerk Plum Chicken $12 with cranberry walnut cornbread stuffing. Very yummy! The chicken is not dry at all, and love the stuffing (that alone stuffed my stomach full).

Marina del Rey Bay + Beach

//// By in Travel

DSC02170.jpgDSC02169.jpgDSC02172.jpgDrove out to Marina del Rey for lunch (5-10 minutes from office) and I got lost. After wandering through blocks of nice residential seaside houses, all the sudden we came to a dead end: a bay that led out to the ocean. There’re long nice ocean-view walk ways lead you very far out to the ocean, so nice~ I want to live here!!! Though these rows of houses are facing a nasty-looking river ^^;;

DSC02193.jpgDSC02195.jpgI always eat out at the beach but never once take picture of it. Here’s the Marina del Rey beach~ 😀 Look exactly like the Manhattan Beach, except with whiter sand. Both are so empty during weekdays.

Sun & Moon Cafe (Manhattan Beach)

//// By in 17: South Bay

DSC02158.jpgDSC02159.jpgThis place is so cute~ I spotted this last month but it’s always closed for remodelling everytime we were there. Finally it’s opened but unfortunately: it’s bad! -_-;; I should have known since it’s a Japanese + Vietnamese fusion place at a gwai-lo area. I was hoping for some interesting twist since the decor is so nice and sincere. How ironic that we’re facing all these ‘Best-of’ awards and editorial praises on the walls. There are notes in each table explaining what Pho is, how their soup base brew for 7 hours and such…

DSC02162.jpgDSC02161.jpgSuper Small bowl of Beef Pho $5.5. My goodness I finished this in one gulp. The 7 hours prepared soup is tasteless, medicore quality of beef. I can get a huge bowl of really good beef pho (with all kinds of cow part) at Vietnamese restaurant on the East side. The Ikura sushi cost as much as the pho and it’s terrible. The seaweed are soggy and sticky (yuck!), the salmon roe are gross…the sushi aren’t mine (seem bad). Still hungry afterward.
