Prado (Larchmont Village)

//// By in 07: Mid-Wilshire

DSC01618.jpgDSC01620.jpg At first we thought “Prada”?!? ^^;; and assume it’s Italian. But Prado is actually a latin and caribbean cuisine restaurant with cute interior. The bread is good!

DSC01622.jpg DSC01621.jpgScallop with mango sauce $16 Very very yummy! The sauce has so many different flavors. All the sides (Plantain, Grill Veggie, fried potato, rice) are nice too. Salmon with lime sauce $12 Not mine, Stan said it’s very good though.

Real Food Daily (Santa Monica)

//// By in 16: Santa Monica

DSC01600.jpgDSC01604.jpgOrder to go from Real Food Daily, an organic vegetarian gourmet restaurant opened by the personal chef of Danny DeVito. The entire menu is all innovative veggie gourmet, but I bet you it can’t compare to the Chinese Vegetarian restaurants (I’ve had a lot of really good ones). So I ordered the soup and special of the day. Holiday Fejitos Special $13.95 Letil Soup. MY GOD it is a NIGHTMARE!!! I thought ah-HA how interesting, Mexican food in v-version. The ‘meat’ are the bad tofu-meat, completely burnt. The sides are all very bad…totally reminded me of very bad trashy Mexcian food. The soup…so oily and tasteless. It’s just horrible beyond words. I took only one bite and that’s it.

Mäni’s Bakery & Café (Santa Monica)

//// By in 16: Santa Monica

DSC01599.jpgDSC01587.jpg
Walked about 8 minutes from Stardust to the central main street with lots of shops and cafes. Very much epitomizes the vibe of Venice Beach, Mäni’s Bakery & Café is specialized in healthy organic food: sugarless, anti-artificial flavor+color and homemade. Lots of vegetarian and vegan items on menu. They sweetened the cake/jam with natural ingredients (fruits). I’ve bought a cake here before for a party and didn’t really like it…only because it was a carrot cake that I never liked. ^^;; Maybe I should try their chocolate truffle cake, which is claimed to be their best and most popular.
DSC01590.jpgDSC01592.jpgFitting the neighborhood are the shops inside: gifts and art store inside cafes, to celebrate the art. The items are eccentric handmade clothes, gypsy-ish garments, handcraft home decor stuffs, paintings, new agey and eastern religion artifacts…etc. One store has bunch of photos of the owner and friends at Tibet and stuffs. ^^;;;

DSC01591.jpgCafe au lait Good!

DSC01593.jpgTomato Soup $3.5 The waiter make a note “it’s all vegan”~ a fact that I won’t care ^^;;; Yum!

DSC01595.jpg Betty’s Famous Potato Pancake $6.95 with homemade Applesauce~ Jolly good! It’s like pancake + hashbrown I think? Forgot to take picture, but they also gave us a jar of very good raspberry jam. It is also homemade and very fresh fruit tasting.

The Counter (Santa Monica)

//// By in 16: Santa Monica

DSC01583.jpgBuilt your own burger! Freda’s Burger 😀 $6.95 Honey wheat bun, 1/3 lb. beef, caramelized onion marmarald, blue cheese, sauteed mushroom, hard boiled egg, mixed baby green and sprout. Result? Total failure…too much scattering volumetric pieces that simply won’t hold together as a burger. The patty is very good though, medium rare~

Amandine Patissiere (Westwood)

//// By in 10: Beverly Hills

DSC01566.jpgDSC01567.jpgDSC01565.jpgRain pouring whole day. Took Tina and Jason to Amandine~ They bought 10 breads to take away! *0* I only bought three and they were eaten by my parents. They have really good coffee. The two soup Mushroom Creme and Tomato Vegetable are not mine. I tried a spoonful and both are pretty good.

DSC01569.jpgAmandine Salad $8.5 Lot of stuffs: Tuna salad, cheese, ham, olives, mushroom…

DSC01573.jpgMushroom and Omlette Sandwich $8 Pretty good!

DSC01576.jpgDSC01578.jpgPumpkin Tart $3.45 Yummy! Seems like this is their signature/popular item, I had the last piece. Caramel, Banana and Walnut $3.45 Just the right sweetness, sooo good!!!

DSC01580.jpgDSC01581.jpgNot mine. Strawberry Shortcake and Amandine Tart, look a bit too normal ^^;; Tina’s willing to try the least popular ones there. I taste a bit and they’re both good!
